Reviews Summary

ONNNO is celebrated for its stylish ambiance and delicious, often American-inspired, food and coffee. Diners praise the exceptional quality of their pastries, sandwiches, and specialty lattes, noting the fast Wi-Fi and pleasant atmosphere make it a great spot for both work and leisure. While generally well-received, some minor critiques mention certain pastries not being memorable.

"Super cute cafe with excellent food. I had a breakfast sandwich with eggs, cheese bacon and arugula on a fantastic bun. Plus a very tasty latte. All at a great price. Staff spoke English (which was helpful since my Spanish is only toddler-level). Will definitely return."

"By far one of the best spots in Oaxaca. The bakery on Calle Morelos is great too. Would recommend the ham sandwich at the bakery. Huge fan of the maple latte too. The remodel of the restauraunt took my by surprise but it is so unique."

Maya de la Torre

"I've been obsessed with this restaurant for a while, from the perfect pastries to the great food and drinks, they excel at everything that they do. My favorite salad used to be the caesar until they took it off the menu but I got to try their ensalada de la casa which became my favorite and honestly it's one of the best salads I've had! Their burger and their sandwiches are really good too, but their pastries are on another level. They make a delicious banana bread that's my mom's favorite and I lovee their lemon and blueberry cake. Came back after the remodel and still love it! The service is always lovely and so is the place."

Where to Eat in Oaxaca for Non-Mexican Food

Tucked away on the eastern edges of Centro, Onnno Loncheria is a laid back and off-the-beaten-track breakfast and lunch option if mouthwatering sandwiches, standalone salads, and American breakfast classics like french toast, scrambled eggs on brioche, and yogurt parfaits get your stomach grumbling. Originally just a grab-and-go sandwich shop around the corner from its current location, Onnno has transformed into the go-to spot for connection, conversation, and a little “taste of the states” in Oaxaca. The dynamic duo behind it all, Estefanía Alvarez and Gustavo Coutiño, combined their food-centric upbringing in Chiapas and experience working in hotels and restaurants in Cancun, Tulum, and New York, with some of their favorite design and culinary discoveries while traveling, including the shared table concept inspired by a cafe they visited in Denmark.

Offering a casual, laid-back atmosphere, it serves up vegan and vegetarian versions of street food favorites like stuffed empanadas, breads and hearty tortas, all made with fresh, local ingredients. One torta in particular is a must here- the sautéed mushroom sandwich which can be made vegan by omitting the goats cheese.

onnno loncheria is one of those places in Oaxaca that you can walk by a hundred times without realizing what’s inside. They’re known for their sandwiches but they do offer salads and a few breakfast dishes as well. We went to onnno for lunch and my better half ordered this hefty ensalada de la casa (house salad) made with grilled chicken, fresh vegetables, goat cheese, caramelized seeds, and olive oil.
