La Rustica Sayulita

This sleek restaurant has a monochrome palette and air of modernity, making it stand out for all the right reasons. La Rustica isn’t primarily a vegetarian restaurant, but it has some pretty good choices for a pizza place. Vegetarian options include the margarita, veggie and fungi – but if you’re not in the mood for something so filling, we recommend opting for a cheese and wine board – the perfect way to end a chilled evening.

La Rústica, set in a beautiful sand-toned dining room right off the plaza, is a top option for a nicer sit-down evening. The wood-fired oven is at the heart of a menu headlined by pizzas, pastas, and, of course, local seafood. Six different margaritas and a commendable wine list pair well with it all.

On any given day, I’d catch the entrepreneur walking barefoot, as many locals do, within his airy 9-room Don Bonito Hotel, at his buzzy Italian restaurant La Rustica Sayulita, or grabbing a scoop of Ferrero Rocher ice cream at one of his Wakika locations. Born and raised on this scenic coast, Rodrigo put it perfectly when he told me “travelers should consider how hard it is to leave Sayulita, it is not easy saying goodbye to that laid-back part of yourself that comes out being here.” I happen to be living proof of just that—someone who planned to come for a mere week and ended up staying for ten. Here are the places this Sayulita native once shared with me, and now brings to you.

At first, I was taken aback by the prices on their menu, which were definitely higher than most other breakfast joints in town. However, when my breakfast arrived, I understood why this Sayulita restaurant was a little bit more on the expensive side: my chilaquiles verdes were delicious, and served with attention to detail that you don’t get at some of the town’s cheaper restaurants. You can see that the tortillas were beautifully garnished with red onion, radish, cilantro and crema, the eggs were cooked well, and the refried beans were also prepared nicely.

La Rústica is a slightly more upscale alternative to Pizza Venezia, and it aims to please. As a commenter on Reddit said, "I know one doesn't necessarily go to Sayulita for Italian food, but La Rústica is fire." Plus, with all the tacos and Mexican cuisine you're bound to be eating in town, sometimes you need to switch things up. Described by the establishment as a modern open-air eatery, La Rústica serves up tasty wood-fired pizzas, fresh salads, pasta bowls, seafood, and more.

La Rustica is located just a few steps off the plaza on the way to la playa, where you can find yourself eating some of the best wood fired pizza, salad or pastas in Sayulita. With the great ambience and attractive modern decor, La Rustica Sayulita is the place where everyone will feel comfortable. Amazing service and delightful atmosphere is what really distinguishes the place and makes it a Sayulita favorite.

Of course, there are many different options for restaurants in town and while La Rustica doesn’t have any specifically mentioned vegan options on their menu, with a few modifications, you can create an amazing meal. They hand-make all of their pizza dough and you can order it without cheese. Voila, you have a delicious flatbread topped to the brim with veggies that will leave you completely satiated.

If you find yourself getting sick of tacos (is that even possible!?) then switch things up with a visit to La Rustica. This eatery serves up a delicious assortment of wood-fired pizzas, salad and pasta!. Unfortunately, due to a Dry Law during the election, we didn’t get a chance to try any of their cocktails or their self-proclaimed best margaritas in Mexico!

La Rustica is a well-known Italian restaurant that is favored by kids and families. There is a big menu of pizzas and pasta that travelers of all ages enjoy. It may look small from the outside but this is one of the biggest spaces in Sayulita with a second-floor party venue, a coffee bar on the side, and spacious indoor and outdoor dining on the first floor.

Some of my favorite spots include Ático Bar, where you can unwind with cocktails and live music, and La Rustica, a lively spot known for its wood-fired pizzas and great atmosphere. Italian, yes, but trust me on this recommendation. Whether you’re looking to relax by the beach or enjoy the nightlife, Sayulita has something for everyone.

And if you are tired of eating tacos, La Rustica is a great pizza place that opens at night only. Matiz is a good place for dinner, too, the food and cocktails are delicious and it is located on a little plaza, so the kids can play and get an ice cream from Wakika Heladeria in front. We also love Bichos at night, it opens at 6 p.m.

No place showcases the international influence on Sayulita as this high-end open-air Italian restaurant!. Honestly, you might have to do a double-take as it looks like you’re walking past somewhere in Europe. It’s one of the most expensive places to grab a meal in town but comes highly rated if you are looking for a solid pizza.

This poppin’ place makes some absolutely FIRE (pun intended) fire-baked pizza. We went here several times on our trip because the quality rivals even the top pizza in the world (including the Italy, the inventors of pizza). I’d suggest “ La Princessa” pizza that’s laden with balsamic vinegar, arugula greens and blue cheese.

Although I thought nowhere could compete with Trattoria Toscana, that was before I knew about La Rustica. Their specialty is wood-fired pizza with around 15 types to choose from. Keep it classic with La Princesa (pesto, olives, sundried tomato, and goat’s cheese), or try an unusual option like pizza al pastor!

If you’re in the mood for a light lunch or a quick bite, head to La Rustica Deli. This deli offers a variety of sandwiches, wraps, and salads made with quality ingredients. Choose from their selection of homemade bread and pair it with your choice of fillings and toppings for a customized meal.

To begin your gastronomic adventure in Sayulita, “La Rústica” may be a good place to start. This centrally located restaurant is ideal to visit with the family, as you will enjoy the climate of the Pueblo Mágico from its outdoor tables. On the other hand, the menu offers dishes for all tastes.

If you want the best pizza in town, La Rustica is hands down, our favorite. While their pricing is a bit steep, the quality of food and service they provide is well worth the money. From the hummus plate, to their roasted artichoke, to salads, they’ve got vegans and vegetarians covered.

Italian wood fired oven pizzas, pastas, salads and they have lots of different dietary options if you ask. They have vegan cheese, no cheese (we did this for one and just asked for extra garlic on top), zucchini or rice noodles for the pasta.

It turns out the Italian food in Sayulita is surprisingly good with La Rustica, Trattoria Toscana and Marcolino Pasta y Vino all being solid options. But one stood above the rest, and delivered one of the best dishes I had the entire trip.

La Rustica: If you want some BOMB pasta, you have to try Rustica!. I have been there twice so far for their Scampi dish because it was so freaking good!. Its has really cute decor as well!.

Organi-K was my go-to lunch spot for smoothies and poke bowls. Tiburon had amazing food with American influence. Sur38 is a fancy spot just a short walk out of town that most people miss.

On paper, Rustica is probably the best restaurant in Sayulita. We certainly have no complaints. Their food is unbelievable, the service is incredible, and the location is ideal.

La Rustica is located in the city center, a great Italian restaurant focusing on wood-fired pizzas and excellent cocktails!. Of course, they have other Italian cuisines.

You’ll see quite a few Italian restaurants scattered through Sayulita and if you’re on a mission to find some great Italian Mexican-inspired food don’t miss La Rustica.

La Rustica- We ate here twice for lunch and once for dinner. The food was so yummy, and the service was great. It had a trendy vibe and a fun indoor-outdoor setting.

Burrito Revolution, La Rustica and Restaurante Yeikame are other spots well worth a mention. Honestly, the list goes on and on but the above is a good start.

The Mexicana was superb, and our kids loved their pizzas too. Simple, modern, clean building with a great ambiance and excellent service.

Their prices are not too bad either, so it’s a great stop if you want a change or if your stomach can’t take any Mexican food anymore!

La Rustica (location on map) is an Italian restaurant, but they serve up the single best bite of fish taco in Sayulita, in my opinion.
