Reviews Summary

Chamicos Tulum is lauded for its incredibly fresh and delicious seafood, generous portions, and affordable prices. Diners praise it as an authentic local spot offering a relaxed atmosphere, with many highlighting the ceviche and grilled octopus as standouts. While the food and value receive consistent acclaim, some reviews mention that service can occasionally be slow, requiring diners to actively get a waiter's attention.

"I stumbled across this place looking for a different restaurant. I’m glad I did! The food and service was 👍🏾 great. Was giving relaxed,” I’m in the neighborhood with family” feel. They have a kids play area and menu. The staff was accommodating to our ignorance of food and drinks. The portions were great and the taste was amazing. I highly recommend you stop by if you’re in the mood for seafood but don’t want to be fancy. 🥰"

"We were looking for fresh seafood and something more authentic than the usual overpriced tourist spots—and this place delivered beyond expectations. Our guide brought us here, and everything was amazing! The service was warm and attentive, and the food was out of this world. Best ceviche ever and the grilled octopus was perfection. Can’t wait to come back!"

Naira Petrosyan

"Amazing seafood! Their speciality is seafood and you must get the Chamico’s cerviche, and the mixed grill which we couldn’t finish with 3 people!!
We came here when Tacos Honorio was full with a queue and walked straight in and had great service and a fantastic lunch. Highly recommended if you’re in Tulum!"

Chamico himself will cook you up fish caught in the sparkling blue Soliman Bay that very day at this spot close to the center of town. If you’re having a hard time making up your mind, the ceviche with lobster tail is outstanding. Grab an outdoor table and while away the afternoon (and then go back for seconds).

Chamico’s isn’t visible from the main road so is considered “secret,” which adds to its appeal. Turn off the main access road across from Restaurant Oscar and Lalo, follow the narrow road until you reach a security guard, tell him you’re going to Chamico’s, and continue driving down a narrow road lined with villas. Keep driving even after you question if you’re headed in the right direction.

Things To Do In The Riviera Maya

Chamicos in Soliman Bay: $ 👪 – If you are more interested in ‘off-the-beaten-path’ places then Chamico’s should be on your list of Riviera Maya things to do. A little more than halfway from Akumal to Tulum, Soliman Beach is a great place to visit if you want a secluded bay. Though not as wide as the other beaches in this area, the sand is just as soft.

A locals’ secret about 25-minute drive north from town, nested in Soliman Bay. This entirely unfussy beach club lawn furniture and offers up massive range of cheap, super-fresh, locally caught mariscos, some prepped over a wood-fired grill. After the meal, grab a crisp, icy Corona, and take a siesta in one of the scattered hammocks.

Chamico’s is not the most well-known of the Riviera Maya beach clubs, but it’s definitely one of my favorites. Set off at the end of a dirt road about 8 miles north of the Tulum ruins, this expansive restaurant and beach club rocks. Tables, loungers, hammocks, cold beer, and good food characterize this hidden oasis.

TRAVEL GUIDE: TULUM, MEXICO

• If you prefer more laid back eateries, then I would suggest Chamico’s. This is basically a low-key in front of the sea amongst the palm trees with no menus but the freshest lobster and ceviche you could hope for!. Don’t let the plastic chairs and tables put you off, the food is seriously out of this world.

And when I say on the beach, I mean it: the restaurant is really just a collection of plastic tables and chairs on a quiet bay north of Tulum, with a few hammocks strung between the palm trees for good measure. We ordered the fried fish and prawns with garlic. The fried fish was fresh as can be.
