Reviews Summary

Dar Hatim is celebrated for its authentic, homemade Moroccan cuisine served in a beautifully decorated, family-run setting. Guests rave about the warm hospitality and the delicious, generous portions of dishes like lamb tagine and pastilla. While some find it pricier than other local options, the unique experience and quality of food make it a highly recommended destination in Fes.

"Dar Hatim is the most beautiful, delicious, warm and welcoming restaurant we visited during our trip to Marrakech and Fez. I celebrated my birthday there, the hospitality and the family of the owners were an added treat. If you want to try home-made authentic food and atmosphere, there is no better place than this. Delicious! We felt so happy there."

Vera Krichevskaya

"I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, and even though the vegetarian options were a bit limited, they were happy to adapt the dishes and prepare something vegetarian. The Moroccan appetizers were especially tasty and full of variety. It really felt like homemade cooking — warm, authentic, and made with love. The owner and her children were incredibly kind and welcoming, making the atmosphere feel very personal and cozy. The restaurant itself is also beautifully decorated. I truly enjoyed everything and highly recommend this place!"

Ruslana Zastavna

"If you want a true Moroccan experience, dine at this authentic family restaurant! Ingredients were fresh and full of flavor. Some of the best tajines (lamb & chicken) and chicken pastilles we have had during our travels through Morocco! Service was prompt and extremely friendly! Most importantly, they will provide a porter service to come to your Riad/Dar, bring you to the restaurant and return you back after dinner. Looking forward to our next visit."

How to Navigate Old Fez, Morocco’s Oldest and Most Complex Imperial City

Travelers looking to sample the flavors of Fez will find many superb restaurants throughout the medina. In the Mellah, the old Jewish quarter, Dar Hatim is a family affair where you can taste the love in chef Karina Bouaa’s home-cooked chicken pastilla and lamb tagine. (If the prospect of navigating some notoriously twisting alleyways on an empty stomach doesn’t sound particularly appealing, her husband Fouad will gladly escort you.) Dar Roumana and Restaurant Ouliya are two other standout options for Moroccan cuisine and warm hospitality.
