Lunch on tasty Lebanese salads or a vegan burgher at Naranj or the Mandala Society, before heading northwest across the Djemaa el-Fna and picking up Rue Mouassine, which is lined with some of the souk's chicest shops. Just past the landmark mosque and Mouassine fountain, you can slip into Le Jardin Secret, one of the Medina’s largest and most important gardens set out in the shell of a 19th-century palace. Divided into two distinct areas, the gardens are a perfect example of Islamic garden design.

Even after visiting countless cafes in the Medina, I keep coming back to The Mandala Society for its perfect blend of hipster charm and authentic Moroccan flair. You’ll need to climb several flights of stairs, but trust me, the spacious rooftop terrace with its stunning city views is worth every step. What I absolutely love here is their banana bread drizzled with amlou and chocolate sauce, paired perfectly with a chai latte made with real non-dairy milk, something that’s quite rare in Marrakech!

Mandala Society Marrakech calls itself the ‘Food Appreciation Society’ and I love the look of it!. They serve food and drinks all day but I think this place is particularly good if you are looking for brunch cafes in Marrakech or really good coffee as they serve specialty-grade coffee and have a fantastic brunch menu. As well as healthy, fresh food and a great ambience they focus on fair trade, being plastic free and an honest business… what’s not to love?

You can enjoy an oat milk latte or fresh smoothie with various veggies and nut-butter-topped toast in the morning. Later in the day, come back for a colorful Buddha bowl, house-made veggie burger, or crispy falafel.

Not far from there is Mandala Society, which focuses on fair wages, organic products, and not using plastic. Go there for well-crafted teas and coffees alongside a menu whose inspirations run from the local to the international. For dessert, La Porte du Monde, in the Medina, is a sweets-lover’s dream: They do magical things with sesame and honey.

So, as soon as you see the exterior you know that the prices are gonna be higher and that they cater to foreigners. Now, I have been here a couple of times and it is kind of hit or miss. TBH, it’s noy my fave place but my partner LOVES to come here for an early brunch so that he can get the banana bread drenched in chocolate/amlou sauce.

Mandala started in Essaouira until opening its Marrakech branch (unfortunately) right at the start of our first lockdown. But they’re back and one of the best offers is their brunch board that is more than enough for 2 people to share.

Located near Jemaa el-Fna, Café Mandala Society was founded by an Icelandic-Moroccan couple. This results in a colorful mix of Nordic and Moroccan food on the menu. It’s a hip café with good music.

The Mandala Society is an address that mixes international and Moroccan influences. Very nice contemporary decoration. Mainly English-speaking clientele.
