In a palatial medina house, this atmospheric restaurant serves gourmet versions of traditional Moroccan cuisine, with live Andalusian music as a charming backdrop. Well-signposted from Avenue Laalou, it's in the medina close to Kasbah des Oudayas; in the evenings, a man with a lantern waits at the nearest medina entrance to guide you to the restaurant.

Located in Rabat’s ancient Medina, Dinarjat has been beloved by locals since it originally opened in 1990. The owner, Rachid El Guennouni, has gradually implemented a series of tasteful restorations to the riad that dates back to 1912; horseshoe-shaped arches have been reinforced and its walls have been coated in mottled tadelakt plaster. Dinarjat was my target restaurant for Rabat; it is deep within the medina, and luckily, an escort from Dinarjat met me at the entrance to the medina to guide me there…because, I gotta tell ya!. It’s a tad confusing!. It felt quite exotic and special to have that escorted walk to the restaurant.
