Not unlike Krishnarpan, Thamel House is one of those spots where you can have a glitzy evening without compromising on classic flavors. The gundruk jhol (fermented leafy greens stew) here is earthy, tangy, and perfect on a chilly night.

It’s located inside an incredible 3 storey heritage villa at one end of the Thamel drag. The villa is simply spectacular. You can dine in it’s beautifully lit and large courtyard or on the first of second floors where all the seating is traditional Nepalese style (on cushions on the floor).

Thamel House restaurant is a worthy restaurant in Kathmandu. The restaurant is clean and the food tastes amazing. It might be one of the high-priced restaurants but the hygienic foods, the hospitality they provide, and the happy face of the waiter make you feel worth it.

This is one of the few places in the city where you can sample Newari cuisine (Newars are an ethnic group in Nepal). Momos come as part of the “full course set”. This comprises of a few appetizers, a thali of Newari/Nepalese specialties, dessert, and coffee or tea.
