The must-have item at this restaurant is the pork belly bao, where a soft, steamed bun is filled with lashings of sweet hoisin sauce, fresh herbs, a thick piece of tender pork belly and a layer of crackling that is crispy beyond words.

The Blue Breeze Inn takes inspiration for their dishes from Kiwi innovation and ancient Chinese tradition. Each dish on the menu requires a certain level of skill and passion to combine the flavours perfectly. So, it comes as no surprise the same effort is also extended to their desserts.

Modern Pacific Thai food with surprisingly large portions made for sharing. The mix of delicate flavours and spices have resulted in Blue Breeze Inn moving up my list as one of my favourite Auckland restaurants. The menu identifies spicy, hot spicy, gluten-free, and longer prep time.

Chef Che Barrington prepares modern Asian fusion food at the Blue Breeze Inn. In 2011, he opened MooChowChow, the first modern Thai restaurant in Auckland. At the Blue Breeze Inn, the specialties are dumplings and flaming woks.

That’s not just the dining space we’re talking about, it’s the tastes from the kitchen. Chef Che Barrington is all about herbs, broths and bases. Not to mention magical ‘do-not-miss’ dumplings.
