Reviews Summary
The Church Pub is lauded for its unique and stunning atmosphere, housed in a former church with preserved architectural elements like pipe organs. Guests rave about the delicious wood-fired pizzas and the vibrant live music that creates an energetic vibe. While the ambiance and entertainment are often highlighted as major draws, some diners have noted issues with service efficiency and staffing, particularly at the upstairs bar.
"The interior design is one-of-a-kind because the building was transformed from a historic church to a pub following the earthquake. Inside, you can see a pipe organ and beautifully adorned ceilings. The atmosphere was wonderful, and I highly recommend that you visit here while in Christchurch. They have a live band, and we also got to watch a rugby league game on a big screen. The wood-fired pizza was very delicious, and the other meals were good pub food. The view from the mezzanine floor was simply stunning. One thing I noticed was that they should be able to take an order by a serving staff at the table when a barcode order is not really working because some of items were sold out."

"Fantastic old church all been done up . Live Music. Central in town . Nice pub food. Had the Korean chicken burger . Was excellent . Found it very filling
You can walk also through to the Irish Pub .
Food was quick that night . You can order from your table with the QR code or at the bar . Some of the staff just need to be more friendly and smile."

The best places to eat in Christchurch: Take the city’s tram food tour
The Church Brew Pub, near Stop 2, is perfect for a pizza and a pint (it’s an Emmerson’s venue) — and while the casual fare is wonderful — burgers, sandwiches, fried chicken and lighter small plates — it’s the interior of the building that makes it the whole experience. Built in the mid-1870s as the Trinity Congregational Church, it was damaged in the 2010 earthquake and red-stickered after February 2011. While threatened with demolition, it was mercifully saved, repaired and reopened last year.

Built inside the Trinity Church on the corner of Manchester and Worcester streets, you can have a pint of something cold from Emerson's Brewery in Dunedin, indulge in burgers, pizza and fried chicken, and maybe even catch some live music. The food and drink are great for a casual bite, but it’s the space itself that will truly take your breath away.
