Curry Chips at Devil Burger: It’s a given that a visit to Queenstown is likely to result in at least one big night out on the town. I don't know of anywhere else in New Zealand where the bars are full and open late every night of the week. Should you find yourself caught up in the party scene and out late, swing by Devil Burger before heading home.

With a name like that you’d expect to get something truly decadent at Devil Burger, and you’re not going to be disappointed. There’s a huge range of burgers on offer, including beef, chicken, lamb, venison and vegetarian options, however our top pick is the ‘Old Harry’ – a fresh NZ Blue Cod fried in crispy beer batter, served with devil's homemade tartare sauce and salad. The prices are reasonable, starting at just $9.50 for the standard ‘Devil Burger’.

Looking for the best restaurants in Queenstown on a budget?. 1867, 45 Ballarat Street, might be famous for serving the cheapest beers in town, but their weekday meal deals (usually after 5pm) is a good drawcard too, including Monday’s 20% off all mains, Wednesday’s $20 steak, fries, salad and drink, Thursday’s $20 chicken, fries, coleslaw and drink, and Friday’s $15 burger and fries. You can’t go wrong with a burger, but you can go right; Devil Burger is simply irresistible. The cheap and cheerful eatery is a great late-night spot, offering an easy bite to eat that tastes incredible. Try something new with the blue devil, made with a prime NZ beef patty, streaky bacon, poached pears, blue cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, aioli and tomato relish.

On Day 2, the line outside Fergburger persisted and so it was off to Devil Burger to satisfy our cravings. We ordered the Devil Burger (NZ$12.50 for reg, NZ$14.50 for large) and a She Devil Burger (NZ$14.50). Both burgers contained NZ prime beef, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, aioli and their devil sauce, with the She Devil including beetroot and an egg.

**As an alternative to Fergburger, the crowd at Devil Burger is more sane, which I also attribute to its relatively low key location. Prices are similar to Fergburger, less the long wait. You can still get a pretty good burger here, going by the Devil Burger option which has almost the same mix of ingredients as the signature Fergburger.

Devil Burger might not be the, ahem, most famous burger joint in town, but it’s definitely worth a visit. Offering a wide range of truly enormous burgers and wraps, filled with all manner of delicious ingredients (think everything from Moroccan Lamb to the eggplant-based Poison Ivy), this one gets a thumbs up from us.

As much as getting a famous Ferg Burger is great, waiting in the hour-long line isn’t always the easiest with little ones. Devil Burger is a great alternative, the burger quality is just as amazing as Ferg Burger but it’s just not as well known. We love phoning ahead and collecting on our way through town.

Another burger joint that deserves a mention is Devil Burger, known for its delectable burgers made from high-quality ingredients. Their extensive menu caters to all tastes, including gluten-free and vegan options. Enjoy a tasty burger, loaded fries, or a shake at reasonable prices.

So as I have mentioned in my previous post (click here to read!) on Queenstown, one of our waitresses recommended we try Devil Burger!. She said she liked it more than Fergburger so we decided we had to check it out. We both got chicken burgers and absolutely loved it!

This restaurant doesn’t hold back on quality, serving up gourmet burgers with heaps of flavour. Burgers like the vegetarian Poison Ivy (stacked with eggplant, halloumi, cheese, red peppers and salad) are available as a regular or a large, perfect for any appetite.

Another great option for a good burger and a favourite amongst the locals. We ended up here after skipping the queues at Fergburger and left very satisfied. It has an edgy but calmer atmosphere than Fergburger but can also get busy during peak meal times.

Ferg is indeed good, and Devil Burger have raised their game (but don't get the crumbed chicken ones). But if you really want a good sit-in burger, go do The Find - it's way better than those two, but can't be eaten take-away as too messy.

When only meat wrapped in bread will hit the spot, head to Devil Burgers. Quite frankly, these burgers are just as good, if not better than Ferg’s over on the other side of town – and the real seller?. And no horrendously long queues.
