What Travellers Say

Fergbaker is highly praised for its exceptional savory pies, with customers raving about the quality of the flaky pastry and flavorful fillings. Sweet treats like donuts and lemon meringue pies also receive high marks. While some find the prices a bit steep, the overall consensus is that the delicious food and efficient service make it a worthwhile indulgence.
"5/5 stars for pies, pastries and coffee.
Impeccable service and more importantly short queue. We came 12pm, where the bfast crowd is gone and majority of the crowd were queuing for the burgers.
Venison and Portobello mushroom pie was amazing. So far one of the best I've tried in NZ. Filling was top notch, flavourful and pastry was smelt buttery!
Overall amazing food! Kudos to the bakers and service team."

"Dropped into Fergbaker and tried a few items. The bacon and egg bap was the highlight — soft, buttery bun with a solid helping of bacon and egg, and the sweet and savoury combo from the jam and relish really made it sing. Hearty and satisfying, definitely worth trying.
I also had the Ferg and Cheese pie, which was warm, meaty, and filling. A good pie overall, though not quite the flavour bomb I expected given the hype.
Finished with a strawberry tart — sweet, slightly tangy, and visually appealing. It was enjoyable, but just above average in taste.
Prices are on the steep side, so it feels more like a treat-yourself stop. Still, solid quality across the board, and the bacon and egg bap was the one I’d go back for."

"Was attracted to this bakery as its front was always covered with people. I finally got to try this place one morning and I was amazed by the wide variety of pastries they had at the display counter.
I got coffee and mini focaccia as takeaway. I was told that their pie was a must-try but it was a tad heavy for me to have it in the morning. I liked their foccacia as it tasted fresh and delicious with its tomato and cheese fillings. The bread was soft and crispy to my liking.
Would love to try their pie and other pastries one day if I got to visit this town again!"

Highly recommend going to Fergbaker for their baguettes instead to go with the lamb (it wasn’t open on Christmas Day so we had to make do with the Pedro ones). The coleslaw was very good, nice mix of apple, red onion, herbs and citrus. Well worth the price we paid and provides an excellent freshness to accompany the rich lamb.
