They have a super interesting range of pies, as well as the more classical ones, such as mince and mince’n’cheese. The more creative ones feature things like caramelised onions and cracked pepper gravy, blue cheese and Kumera (not together!).So for an experience, yes, it’s always good to grab a pie there.

But we're on a food and photography mission today: to show you the best place to eat in Queenstown and to show you how to make travel food photography easier. We start with breakfast. The Ferg empire that started with the now famous Fergburger has also expanded to Fergbaker and Mrs Ferg ice cream, all next to each other on Shotover Street in the centre of Queenstown.

Highly recommend going to Fergbaker for their baguettes instead to go with the lamb (it wasn’t open on Christmas Day so we had to make do with the Pedro ones). The coleslaw was very good, nice mix of apple, red onion, herbs and citrus. Well worth the price we paid and provides an excellent freshness to accompany the rich lamb.

Fergburger is an institution in Queenstown and next door you’ll find the excellent Fergbaker. If you’re not in the mood for a burger, head here for delicious pies or pastries (and the best hot chocolate ever). You can get a classic mince and cheese pie for under $5 (seriously mince and cheese pies are so popular in NZ).

The Jalapeno bagel from Fergbaker is the perfect affordable snack when you’re on the go, priced at only $4.40. Now, I can’t compare it with a true New York Bagel, but to me, it’s the best I have had!

Fergburger’s forgotten brother, Fergbaker sells gourmet desserts and pies. Let’s face it; simply eating a savoury pie is a must-do in New Zealand – see the 25 Foods You Have to Try in New Zealand. The pies are also easy to carry so they’ll pair up well with your other activities in Queenstown.

While Fergburger gets all the hype, Fergbaker is one of the best kept local secrets. Take it from me, skip the burger to save room for one of everything from the bakery next door. One look at the sweets-lined cabinets, and you’ll be in sugar heaven with tarts, eclairs, pastries and more.

Closely affiliated with Fergburger, Fergbaker is the next best thing when it comes to baked goods in Queenstown. Another tourist hotspot of Queenstown that is definitely worth the hype. Famous for their hot chocolates and pies, there really isn’t much that Fergbaker doesn’t offer.

The closest thing to another Ferg’s is the opening of Fergbaker in 2011, a bakery next door that does a Kiwi favorite, the meat pie, proud. For hungry visitors to Queenstown, this is the fallback when Fergburger crowd’s prove too big a mountain to climb.

FergBaker – FergBurger’s bakery has a variety of pie’s and baked goods, but their breakfast wrap is on point for a meal on the go. A staff favourite when we’re a little late out of the blocks, combine with a coffee and you’ll be ready to attack the day!

Fergbaker was an expansion of Fergburger, and it opened for business in 2011. They are located right next to Fergburger on Shotover Street, and you have to come here after chewing on your burger goodness. It’s pastry heaven in here.

Part of the famous Ferg empire, Fergbaker is celebrated for their hearty pies. The classic Ferg pie has generous chunks of beef and gravy. The venison and Portobello mushroom pie made with Fiordland deer is legendary.

Next door to Fergberger is Fergbaker and they have the most delicious pies. If you’re a fan of pies then we highly recommend you try one!. We’ve tried several different flavours and they are all good.

Fergburger is an institution of Queenstown and something you simply have to do when you’re there. I don’t make the rules. And I know what you’re thinking: How good can a burger be?.

A personal favourite is the lamb shank pie from Fergbaker – the trick is not to wolf it down before you reach your destination.
