Reviews Summary

Wolf Coffee Roasters is widely praised for its exceptionally fresh, smooth, and expertly roasted coffee, often considered among the best in the South Island. The friendly and efficient staff, even amidst tourist rushes, add to the welcoming atmosphere. However, some find the prices to be on the higher side, reflecting its prime tourist location.

"Definitely a must have coffee spot. One of the best in NZ. You have to try one of their unique single origin coffees if you are adventurous. You can ask about which roast is best for what, but sometimes ones that are best as a long black, but can work as a flat white giving a unique fruity twist.
I totally recommend it!"

Kyle Joe

"Good coffee but not anything to write home about given the standard in New Zealand anyway - especially for the price. You’re absolutely paying tourist prices here - but as long as you know that going in you’ll be fine. For reference (as there’s no price board), I paid $7 for a small takeaway oat flat white. And the pastries/cookies ranged from around $8-$12. PayWave surcharge. Amex not accepted."

Rory Tait

"I decided to visit this coffee shop after hearing so many recommendations. I ordered a flat white, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet my expectations. The coffee was quite bitter, lacking the bold flavor I prefer. Additionally, the milk didn’t add enough creaminess to balance the bitterness. Overall, it wasn't the coffee experience I was hoping for."

Get some takeaway coffee from The Dishery or Wolf Coffee (if you can, bring a reusable cup with you), ice cream from Patagonia Chocolates, or takeaways from Hole in One Café, Fergbutcher, The Clubhouse Kitchen or a picnic from Rosie’s Plate. The open-air Arrowtown Memorial Pool is ideal for those keen to do a few laps, or head to nearby Lake Hayes (Waiwhakaata) for a play and swim in the warm-ish water. The water isn’t glacier-fed so the water gets quite warm in summer and it is also a peaceful option as it isn’t used by jetboats and water skiers.
