"We had a fantastic meal tonight. Enjoyed tapas and a main dish, kids loved their entrees, and sticky date pudding to finish it all off. The vine platter which comes with a good number of tapas we had already planned on ordering was wonderful. The pork belly, chicken, and squid were all amazing. The risotto with scallops was delicious and was a great sized portion, was great for sharing as we did. We also orders the NZ beef tapa, ended up doing that x2 because we just loved it so much. The sticky date was good, I just wish I had a bit more of that ice cream with the crumble (?) on it to go with the pudding. Overall was a terrific dinner."

"When you ask for a 'good' restaurant in Taupo, 8 out of 10 will recommend you Vine Eatery & Bar. And because of this, there will be days when the place is so busy, that it will impact your experience. So this review is for one such night. Give it some leeway because if you're looking for a place that just hums (which makes for dining out so much more fun), this is it. Dress up (most do and some overdo it), order five drinks (the bar staff are great) and order something different from the menu. For me, it was the whole flounder- a dish so rare to come by. They didn't over-dress it and it was perfect. Three of our group ordered Chicken Maryland and being of the same generation, they were thinking of a version as they remember it from the 80s (and American inspired). It wasn't, and was a chicken they didn't recognise. If you're still hungry (portions are NOT big), go do dessert. Service-wise, the young servers could be taught to be more gracious."
