The restaurant has a lighthearted, southeast Asian atmosphere with fun decorations, bright colours and ceiling-mounted fans – designed to perfection.

A little more central, Rice Rice Baby (136 Maunganui Road) is a top choice for Vietnamese cuisine in Mt Maunganui serving traditional recipes upon its bubble-pink tablecloths. Also in Mt Maunganui, don’t miss The Rising Tide (107 Newton Street) offering in-house beers from their brewery, as well as dumplings and some crowd-pleasers.

My daughter and I are both gluten free and were absolutely stoked to find a restaurant with so many gluten free options while on holiday!. The staff were friendly and didn’t laugh at us when we went back 3 days in a row 😂 It really was that good though. Atmosphere was nice, colourful and trendy and food comes out fast.

For our Vietnamese fix we always head to Rice Rice Baby for the pork rolls – consistently a great vibe and as close as it gets to authentic Vietnamese street food in the Bay.
