Reviews Summary

Tay Street Beach Kitchen is lauded for its stunning beach views and generally faultless food, with many praising the signature Eggs Benedict and excellent coffee. While the food is a highlight, some diners note that prices can be on the higher end and service can slow down during peak times. However, the friendly staff and overall positive experience keep many patrons returning.

"Came on a busy day and was informed of a 45 min wait. Food arrived approx 30 mins after ordering and was faultless. Coffee was excellent also. Would recommend the mince on toast and house made bacon."

Jesse Widgery

"Went to Tay Street beach cafe this morning for breakfast and a coffee. Coffee and drinks were good, service was attentive and friendly (however we went very soon after opening, and cafe was practically empty). The vegetarian eggs bene was great with well crisped rosti. The waffle was good but nothing exceptional- definitely very sweet. Great views and very convenient as right on the beach, on the more expensive end."

Giri Dinamani

"Such a nice food, healthy!!!! And lovely staffs lovely Tanny 🥰 xx thank you so much"

A crowd favourite, the Eggs benedict features Tay Street Beach Kitchen’s house-smoked bacon and smells and tastes incredible. Situated across the road from the beach, this café is well known as its former iteration of Tay Street Beach Café until the team from Pāpāmoa’s Pearl Kitchen took ownership and transformed it. Choose from an indoor or outdoor table in the sun-drenched dining area and enjoy the gentle sea breeze under the shade of an umbrella.

Located right across from the sand of Tay St Beach, this café is filled with surfers, locals and friends catching up—it’s seldom quiet. The chef sources market fish for the fish and chips—so you know it’s going to be fresh—and it’s served with a salad, chips and roasted garlic aioli.
