What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners praise The Fat Duck for its exceptional hospitality and delicious Kiwi fare, with many highlighting dishes like duck wontons and sirloin steaks. However, some reviews mention overly salty food and disappointing dessert experiences. While the food quality is generally appreciated, portion sizes and value for money have been raised as concerns by a few patrons.
"Reservations are recommended however with came early at 530pm with a group of 12. The staff are super friendly and were extremely accommodating to young kids (chalk and drawings allowed). Thanks heaps for having us!
Finally had some good Hazy Ale on tap and the food was actually pretty decent. The duck wontons were probably the best dish. This place nails it in terms of hospitality."

"We rocked up early for dinner and thankfully they had tables because it filled up fairly quickly! Service was excellent - very friendly and helpful.
I had the lamb shoulder and my partner had the market fish of the day which was moki and both were fantastic. We were raving about our dishes and decided to follow up with a sticky date and ginger pudding, however the dessert fell a bit flat for us.
We were otherwise very pleased with our dinner and would definitely recommend The Fat Duck."
Steph Todd
"Awesome sirloin steaks we’ve tasted in New Zealand. Highly recommend The Fat Duck @ Te Anau! Get the dining table at the middle for full 180deg view. Must have their mulled wine and wines.
Ordered a medium + a medium well steaks."
