Inspired by owner Lucy Conway’s passion for quality coffee and time in the mountains, the cafe is a tasteful, wood-lined ode to the back-country hut. The food is far from camping fare, though, with a seasonal menu that’s detailed and inventive. Order scrambled tofu on toast with greens and walnut-date butter, or the classic “one-hander” milk bun with bacon or sausage, egg, cheddar and sauce.

Located onsite of The Wanaka Hotel, this cafe is extremely popular amongst hotel guests and public alike. It serves up great coffee and breakfast and is open for cake and lunch. The contemporary design inside makes for a lovely place to dine in and absorb all those morning cafe vibes.

I have been to scroggin multiple times and like many, my absolute favourite is your big gluten free chocolate chip cookie. It is my number one and whenever my husband and I are in town we always want to get one. However, consistently they are always selling out!
