📍Wanaka, NZ🇳🇿 • The famous tree popping up all over social media is known simply as #thatwanakatree and attracts visitors from all over to the shores of Lake Wanaka where the tree can be found just a short 5 min stroll from the nearest parking lot. Reviews Summary

Treehouse Wanaka is lauded as a hidden gem with exceptional food, particularly its small plates and 'Chef's Choice' option. Diners rave about the knowledgeable and friendly staff, the cozy atmosphere, and the impressive wine selection. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, some guests have noted a desire for dessert offerings to be more prominently presented.

"I've only been here a couple of times, but the food has been fabulous each time. It's small plates so it's best to order a few different items and share so you can try all the wonderful flavors. A good place for drinks and appetizers/dessert too pre or post movie or show. Service was friendly, and the restaurant has warm lighting and isn’t too loud. Next time I'd really like to try the $49pp chefs choice dinner."

"Treehouse is a quirky little one-room open kitchen concept, and appears to be run by a chef and two staff on a Friday night. They seem unbothered by this and dishes and drinks are flying out to the largely elderly crowd. Live plants adorn the walls and provide cover, while the soft floor and surfaces absorb noise. It smells like rich food inside which is nice. The golden lighting is fairly dialed in, no dark corners.

A short, wine heavy menu has a few items of great interest to me, I enjoyed the local Otago Negroni and the Paua (abalone) croquettes; both quite memorable. The bathrooms are spotless, always a good sign. I walked here so can't speak to parking but it seems minimal.

A slightly off putting acidic regional natural wine was swiftly swapped out and the brief app and drink adventure came to a pleasant end. This neighborhood hideaway has promise and certainly deserves 5 stars in the current climate.

I would happily return to Treehouse again with a party to eat the menu. Check it out when in Wanaka and decide for yourself. I would recommend a party of no more than four. The tourists seem to have not discovered the peculiar delights of Treehouse just yet."

"Went on a date night here and gave the ‘chef’s choice’ a go as we wanted to try a bit of everything. Each dish was excellent and we had a great feed over all the dishes.

It’s a bit off the beaten track, but that’s more our scene. The guys there were lovely and we’d recommend to friends as a hidden treasure."

that is, one with fancypants snacks, a wine list to make your jaw drop and mountain views that'll do much the same. It does, however, give the same sense of escape as a traditional treehouse, thanks to it's tucked-away location in Anderson Heights. Drop by for a glass or two of vino in the afternoon, or visit for a feast of shared plates (Bluff oysters and blue cheese bruschetta, please and thank you) come evening—just know it's a treehouse party, and you're invited.
