Reviews Summary

Flight Coffee Hangar is consistently praised for its exceptional coffee and delicious, creative brunch dishes, particularly the lamb shoulder benedict and bacon butty. The energetic atmosphere and friendly, knowledgeable staff contribute to a welcoming dining experience. While busy, service remains efficient, making it a top choice for coffee lovers and brunch enthusiasts alike.

"Hanger absolutely delivered on all fronts. From the moment I walked in, the energy of the place was infectious – busy, buzzy, and full of life. Despite the crowd, the service was warm and efficient, which set the tone for what turned out to be one of the best food and coffee experiences I’ve had in New Zealand so far.

The coffee flight was a visual and sensory treat. Each cup was beautifully presented and offered a unique flavour profile, but the real standout for me was the house blend – smooth, balanced, and brewed to perfection. It hit that sweet spot that’s hard to come by even in top-tier cafés.

The food matched the high standard set by the coffee. I ordered the bacon, and I have to say, it was hands down the best I’ve had in a long time – thick-cut, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavour. Every bite was a reminder of how good simple, high-quality ingredients can be when treated with care.

Whether you’re a coffee aficionado or just someone in search of an exceptional brunch, Hanger is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back, and I can’t recommend it highly enough."

"Where to start? This place is amazing in terms of the food, the service, and the atmosphere. The menu has a broad selection of breakfast foods you can choose from and even a “build-your-own” breakfast part which is amazing! The workers are absolutely incredible- they’re fast and efficient, very hospitable, and are extremely sweet and treat everyone nicely! The atmosphere is amazing too, with a range of coffee beans to select from to purchase, the brewing stations easily in sight, and the vibe of the place is extremely comforting! Overall, I would definitely keep coming back every time I am in Wellington!"

Gabriel Toreja

"Absolutely the best bacon & egg roll (bacon butty) in… the world! Best one I had in my entire life.
As a Belgian, had to try the Belgian/Brussels Waffles. Those very good as well.
Would highly recommend."

10 of the best cafes in Wellington

First off – I love cafes which offer sparkling water at no cost. The staff at Flight Hangar are lovely and personable and are helpful in interpreting the menu and deciding between coffee blends. As a pescatarian who’s normally on a budget, I thought the Truffled Eggs with Mushrooms on gluten free bread was pretty good, however I’ve heard a discerning foodie describe the Spiced Pork Benedict as the best thing they’ve ever eaten.

The Hangar is where you can experience Flight Coffee in all it’s glory. It’s one of the newer ones on the scene of Wellington cafes and has hit the ground running. Since it comes from the same people who brought you the Memphis Belle Coffee House (an award winning Wellington cafe) you know it’s got to be good and The Hangar lives up to the reputation of its founders.
