Reviews Summary

Diners consistently praise Graze Wine Bar for its exceptional vegetarian and pescatarian dishes, especially the multi-course 'Full Shabang' tasting menu. The cozy atmosphere and the unique experience of dining at the chef's bar are also highlighted. However, some reviews mention issues with service speed and temperature of drinks during busy periods, suggesting a potential understaffing problem at peak times.

"If you're looking for an exceptional vegetarian dining experience, this suburban restaurant is a must-visit. Despite being non-vegetarians, we didn't miss the meat at all! The dishes were so well-prepared, flavorful, and satisfying that we were thoroughly impressed.

One standout item on the menu is the pretzel—absolutely a must-try! Its perfect texture and flavor made it unforgettable. Whether you're a vegetarian or just curious to try something different, this restaurant delivers on taste and creativity.

Highly recommended for anyone seeking delicious vegetarian options, even if you're a devoted meat lover!"

"A simply exceptional dining experience. We did the "full shebang" tasting of every item on the menu (it really was every item!) and thoroughly enjoyed every single dish. The cured kahawai tarts, paua patty melt and pierogi were probably the standouts amongst an impressive and satisfying lineup.

We appreciated the pescatarian, locally sourced and minimal waste ethos. The pacing was excellent - not too fast or slow. The overall quantity of food was also perfect - we were satiated but not uncomfortably full by the end! Their wine by the glass menu is also phenomenal.

The chef's table experience definitely elevated the experience even further, and we enjoyed the opportunity to see the dishes being created for us. Max, the head chef, was also very personable and his passion for the food shows. The rest of the team were also all warm and friendly but without being intrusive.

Would highly recommend and readily return to. A big thank you to Max and the rest of the team!"

"A perfect spot for some top notch local cuisine and delicious drinks. We did The Full Shabang and barely made it to the end - it was a lot of food, 11 courses (I've attached photos of 10 of them, forgot to take a photo of the cheese board). A few dishes weren't to our tastes, but we ate everything and really enjoyed the experience."

Take a walk up to Kelburn and pop in to Graze, where Max Gordy and Stina Persen and their team are serving snacks for days, alongside a great wine list and house-made non-alcs too. A pescatarian and vegetarian restaurant, trust the chef with a small “Snack Attack” option for lighter dinner fare perched up by the chef’s table or trust the chef with “Feed Me,” and make sure you get the pierogi. Keep an eye out for their winemaker pour takeovers and pop-up events with other chefs too.

Above the city centre, Kelburn’s a quiet, cosy area – and Graze is an intimate neighbourhood wine bar. Wines from New Zealand (like a wonderful Astrolabe sauvignon blanc from the upper South Island) and abroad are on the menu – but so are dishes like butterfish ceviche, mussel buns and pierogies.
