What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Delicatessen Grunerlokka is celebrated for its cozy atmosphere and generally delicious tapas, with many guests praising the attentive and knowledgeable staff. However, some reviews highlight inconsistent food quality and instances of poor or unwelcoming service, particularly for families or those perceived as not ordering enough.
"A lovely spot with a great atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, taking the time to walk us through the menu and offering spot-on recommendations for both dishes and portion sizes.
We went fully vegetarian and trusted the waiter’s suggestions—and we weren’t disappointed. Every dish was a generous portion for two to share and absolutely delicious.
Would highly recommend and would definitely return if in Oslo again!"

"Nice food, poor service.
Food was tasty and delicious, but service was superficial and not very attentive. We had the feeling that because we arrived with 2 kids we were not very welcome as like we wouldn’t buy as much as 4 adults would do.
Strange take to have against guests."

"We had a wonderful experience at Delicatessen Grünerløkka. The service was excellent, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was very pleasant.
It took a little while before the dessert arrived, but before we even mentioned it, the staff came over to apologize. As a kind gesture, they added a little extra to our dessert, which we truly appreciated. Small details like that really show their professionalism.
All in all, one of the best tapas restaurant experiences we’ve had in Oslo. Highly recommended! 👌✨"

Top 5 Things To See Taste And Do
Meanwhile for the best pizzas in town head to Villa Paradiso (which is handily located in both Frogner and Grünerløkka); for tasty tapas Delicatessen is a firm favourite; and for something meatier Le Benjamin and Trancher Entrecôte are both good bets. There also are plenty of bars to choose from (although alcohol prices in Oslo are staggeringly high): Champaigneria offers a wide selection of champagnes and tapas, and Dattera til Hagen is a bar/cafe/club all in one. For breakfast or coffee Kaffebrenneriet (with numerous locations throughout Oslo) is great for a pit-stop, while Godt Brod does a fantastic range of pastries and granola.

A WEEKEND GUIDE TO OSLO
Delicatessen do Oslo’s best tapas and Le Benjamin do great French food. Kolonialen and Katla are both on the more experimental side, and I have had some seriously memorable dishes here. For a Michelin-starred restaurant (Oslo have a few), then restaurant Galt on the westside, is pretty special.
