"Has to be the nicest cafe I’ve visited in many trips to Stavanger. Really chilled, lovely sunny spot at the front when the sun does shine. Great selection of wines, beers and ales (including local), cocktails and bakery - with games! Fantastic staff."

Nightlife in Southern Norway
At this café, and pub, there's funky artwork on the walls and a cozy garden in back, situated in the vibrant Fargegaten (Street of Colors). This pedestrian street with the official name Øvre Holmegate is the place to go for a coffee or a drink day and night. The street is one of the city's major attractions in general.
How to plan a weekend in Stavanger, where Norway's fjords collide with urban charm
Start the day with organic coffee and a pastry at boho Bøker og Børst. Behind an ochre timber facade, this laid-back spot brims with colour, pot plants and retro furniture, and there’s a leafy courtyard out back.
Cafes and the kulturhus
The first one I visited was Bøker og Børst (books and booze) on the famous colour street which served a fairly weak and overly milky coffee but a tasty chocolate croissant in a low-lit winter cabin esque setting. It was packed with groups of students playing boardgames and the moustached gentleman sat to my right was chuckling away to himself whilst reading Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace (which to my shame has sat for a decade unread on my bookshelf). The second place Kokko had a completely-opposite aesthetic, spacious, bright, minimalist with the bookshelves containing expensive large glossy hardbacks on Nordic cuisine and design rather than second-hand novels and a Carla Bruni record playing in the background.
Where to Eat in Stavanger, Norway: Surprise Foodie Destination
Meaning “books and booze” (since it also operates as a bar) this spot is filled with quirky and fun décor that makes you feel instantly cozy the moment you walk in the door. The staff was also super friendly, and served up my favorite coffee in all of Stavanger – and I sampled a lot more than made this list. Plus, the ultra-moist slice of decadent carrot cake was a great way to treat myself after a cold, rainy morning on the ferry ride back from the Lysefjord.

Beercation Special – A weekend in Stavanger
End the night at Bøker og Børst, or even better, turn back around and do the whole thing over again in the opposite order. Spend some time at B&B first though – it was voted ‘Best Venue in Stavanger and Sandnes’ in 2016. On tap are 7 permanent ‘classics’ and 9 rotating craft beers.
How to Spend A Long Weekend in Stavanger
There’s an app to order your coffees and cake to reduce contact (luckily it is also translated into English). The best coffee we had all weekend. We also stopped by the Spa off the main square for packed lunch bits, water and snacks for our hikes.
