Risø Mat og Kaffebar: is located on the cosy little back street Strandgata 32, it’s cosy and welcoming vibe makes it a popular spot for both locals and visitors. It is well-known for its fantastic cinnamon rolls, and has a wide range of coffee including allergy friendly options. It is a smaller cafe and also can be quite busy, so I would not recommend it if you dog prefers to have a bit more space, but for medium or smaller dogs, chilling out under your chair whilst your sip your coffee is the perfect soultion.

Norway’s café culture is well-known, so it makes sense that some of the best spots for coffee and pastries in Tromsø would also feature karaoke. Riso features two locations – both of which serve delectable bites and exceptionally brewed hot drinks along the scenic Strandgata. While its website offers scant details about karaoke, we know that the opportunity pops up every so often, and each Riso location is definitely worth checking out to see if there is a night dedicated to singing.

Risø mat & kaffebar is many a local’s favourite, and people swear that they can find the best coffee in town here. I can’t agree with that – Risø makes some absolutely delicious cappuccinos, and they also always come with a gorgeous foam figure!. This town centre cafe had a contemporary feel that could fit in with any city in the world… In fact, I was naively surprised by how modern and ‘normal’ all of the places to eat and drink in the Arctic Circle were. We didn’t eat at Risø, but the lunch menu looked and smelled delicious. And the cafe was busy with both locals and tourists on a Saturday afternoon.

Pick Emma’s Drommekjokken for innovative dishes crafted from locally sourced ingredients if you prefer seafood. Fiskekompaniet is a seafood lover’s paradise where fresh catch is transformed into delectable dishes. Risø Mat & Kaffebar is a local hotspot for excellent hotspot for coffee and homemade baked goods.

We then walked towards the city center (the Polaria is located south of it), and dropped by the Riso Mat and Kaffebar** for a quick cuppa. The small cafe provided me some warmth from the freezing cold outside, and they made me a perfect blend of my favorite latte. They’ve got good cakes too.

They have two locations in the city—one is a lunch and coffee bar, and the other seems more coffee-focused. I prefer the first, but I love them both. Risø Mat og Kaffebar (the lunch cafe) is located at Sjøgata 8, and Risø Kaffebar is located at Strandgata 32.

Risø is a small and cozy cafe that is wonderful to stop in for breakfast or lunch. I enjoyed a sourdough sandwich with goat cheese, vegetables and honey, while my husband savored an omelet. It was crowded, but the food was quite delicious.

If hunger strikes around lunchtime, head to the rustic Risø Mat and Kaffebar, which is on Strandgata. Great coffee and delicious lunch dishes are served here, which vary from day to day according to what ingredients are available.

Riso – this cute little café is perfect for quick serve soups and sandwiches. I ate a lot of soup on this trip to keep myself warm.
