"Very tasty food and the service is fantastic. I would highly recommend this place. The food seems very authentic and I came here on the recommendation of a local."

"A great place that kept it authentic calm...
We visited this place 13yrs ago and guess what: still as good as we remembered.
Nice food, good quality/quantities at honest price setting.
Nice choice of drinks/cocktails.
A nice breeze to break the heat and even a pool to cool off (the kids?) and yourself.
This is a place were you can spent hours with friends & family, doing drinks into dinner."

"Mi Ranchito is a good place for a casual meal that isn't exceptionally touristy in this touristy place. We both opted for the whole fried corvina. They were a little more done than we like and there was minimal if any seasoning to the coating in which it was fried, but still a solid dish. We loved the fried yucca and the salad too. A beer and beer wine were cold, with a bucket of ice for the rest of her half bottle. Bathrooms were clean, the view ok, mostly of the street, our waiter pleasant and the perky little hostess a joy. Process were very reasonable, much better than expected for the area."

The food isn't gourmet, but it's authentic and inexpensive. House specialties include various ceviches, corvina entera frita (a whole fried sea bass), crema de mariscos (seafood chowder), camarones a la criolla (shrimp in a tomato and onion sauce), corvina al ajillo (sea bass in a garlic sauce), and a rib-eye steak encebollado (smothered in onions).
Panama City Cheap Eats Restaurants - budget eating 2023
Another one of our Panama thrifty food favourites as we’d often go to Mi Ranchito after doing a long walk along Amador Causeway ( check out our top 5 Panama City walks). With panoramic ocean views of the ocean and an onsite swimming pool (just in case you want to take a dip afterwards), this is a cheap eats restaurant that is the whole package – affordable authentic food with awesome views. We visited several times for breakfast, lunch and dinner (on separate days, just in case you were wondering).

This is no-frills tourist stop on the peninsula that used to be a part of the US military base. It makes the list because of their open-air seating, traditional Panamanian menu and stunning views of the Panama City skyline. It’s worth the drive out to see it, plus you can stop by the Biomuseo while you’re there.
