So, the number one reason to dine at Huaca Pucllana is because of the 1,500-year-old ruins that sit just beyond the restaurant’s terrace… And the close second reason is that this fine dining establishment serves up some incredible Peruvian fusion cuisine. The best seats here are outside on the terrace at night, when the old ruins are dramatically lit for one of the most unique dining experiences you can have in Lima, or perhaps anywhere for that matter. You’d think to dine among ruins, you’d have to head far out of the city, but this restaurant and the ruins of the same name, sit right in the Miraflores district, Lima’s most popular neighborhood for travelers (be sure to read my guide about where to stay in Lima, as well).

This well-known restaurant has an impressive view of the Huaca Pucllana an archaeological site belonging to the Lima culture located in Miraflores. Under the command of the chefs Marilu Madueno Y Andrea Masaro, this space offers a renewed version of Peruvian gastronomy, highlighting the variety of products that characterize it. Some of the dishes that are offered in their menu for the Valentine’s Day Are the Pucllana causitas with salmon tartare, avocado and tiger milk the pepper crusted tenderloin carpaccio the salted loin and to finish the menu they have desserts like the classic sigh to limeña and the Rustic goat and red fruit cheesecake with camu camu jelly.

Huaca Pucllana is perhaps one of the few sights we saw during our time in Lima, but also because there was a restaurant there with views. These ruins were excavated in the last century and sit in the middle of the Miraflores district of Lima. Not to be confused with the Incan ruins around Cusco that Peru is so famous for, these ruins are step pyramids that belonged to the Lima civilization along the coast of Peru before the time of the Incas.

Located alongside the magnificent Indigenous ruins of Huaca Pucllana, Huaca Pucllana Restaurante is an easy, fun and elevated alfresco dining space. After hiking to the top of the clay pyramid and around the historic site, it was wonderful to cool off at the shaded restaurant. Huaca Pucllana Restaurante offers an array of Peruvian and American options that I quickly learned could be modified to fit my dietary needs.
