What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Kintaro offers an authentic Japanese dining experience in Cusco, praised for its fresh sushi, flavorful ramen, and serene ambiance. While many highlight the impeccable service and innovative Peruvian-Japanese fusion dishes, some diners have noted inconsistencies in beef tenderness and occasional dryness in certain appetizers. Despite minor critiques, it remains a popular choice for those seeking quality Japanese cuisine.
"Wonderful presentation and flavor. I think if we were to return, we would get all trout dishes. Staff was very kind and food was great."

"I visited Kintaro alone and had mixed feelings about the experience.
There were two main issues that really affected my enjoyment:
1. I ordered two dishes for myself. Normally in restaurants, they bring one first, and after you finish, the second one follows. Not here! Both dishes arrived at the same time, which meant I had to rush through one while the other was already getting cold. Not ideal at all – especially for a place that positions itself as a quality Japanese restaurant.
2. I ordered the beef udon noodles. The noodles were fine, but the beef was a disaster – extremely tough and chewy. If you’re someone who enjoys spending a long time chewing your meat, maybe this is your spot. Otherwise, I’d recommend skipping the beef entirely.
I really wanted to like this place, and maybe other dishes are better, but based on this experience, I won’t be coming back."

"Based on all the good reviews, we decided to eat here – and we weren’t disappointed.
The sushi was fresh and flavorful, and the teriyaki with rice was really tasty. Service was friendly and helpful – especially Lucas, our waiter.
One downside: we had to wait quite a while for our starters, and the vegetarian gyoza was a bit dry.
Still, if you’re looking for Japanese food in the area, KINTARO is definitely worth a try."
