Reviews Summary

KION Peruvian Chinese offers a unique Chifa experience with a beautiful atmosphere and generally good service, though some diners have noted inconsistencies in food quality. While many praise the wonton soup and dim sum, others found certain dishes lacking in flavor or preparation. The restaurant is a good option for trying a fusion cuisine, but expectations should be balanced.

"Great Chifa in Cusco! We went there twice for dinner, and the food was really tasty with high-quality ingredients. The staff is friendly and patient, always available to answer our questions. Highly recommend the rice dishes and the bao. Both were delicious!"

Natasha Sanchez de Paula

"Some of the rave reviews below must have been of a different restaurant. Or possibly cross-posted from a different reality, because I think the best thing anyone can legitimately say about the food is that it was edible and the portions were reasonably sized.

Service was very good, to their credit and it absolutely wasn’t the fault of the staff that the basic principles of seasoning seem to have passed the chef by.

That’s about it. If you want actual depth of flavour and taste, go somewhere else. The local chifa options are nowhere nearly as fancy but my goodness the food is so much better."

Mohsin Siddiqui

"This was recommended for Peruvian Chinese fusion by a former coworker who spent sometime living in Peru. However, we found few dishes that were very Peruvian and the dishes generally tasted like mediocre Chinese food.

It wasn't bad but it wasn't particularly good either. The atmosphere and artwork was solid though and no issues with the service (slow by American standards but aligned with expectations in Peru)."

Restaurants in Cusco and the Sacred Valley

There are plenty of chifa—Peruvian--Cantonese cuisine—restaurants to be found along the side streets of town, but the best by far is Kion, with its modern decor and attentive service. Although the menu has many familiar Chinese offerings, like wontons and fried rice, the Peruvian influences and preparations make it a nice change from your neighborhood wok and, indeed, from straight-up Peruvian eateries.

KION Peruvian Chinese – This Peruvian-Cantonese restaurant opened a few days after my last departure from Cusco, so I have not had the opportunity to check it out. But I’ve heard good things.
