What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
El Bodegón is celebrated for its authentic and comforting Peruvian home-style cooking, served in generous portions at honest prices. Diners love the nostalgic atmosphere and friendly service, though some note slow service during peak hours. The chocolate cake is a standout dessert that shouldn't be missed.
"What a fantastic little restaurant! Don't be fooled by the fact that it's located inside a shopping mall, or that it belongs to a chain: this is one of Gastón Acurio's restaurants and so the food is pretty much guaranteed to be good! Compared to most other Acurio's restaurants, the ambience here is much more "easy and familiar" and the food is super tasty without being fancy. In fact most dishes will remind you of the flavors you used to taste at your grandma's when you were a child. Portions are very generous and the prices very honest, making this establishment hard to beat when it comes to quality - price ratio. Service is very friendly and attentive and the food comes quickly out of the kitchen. t's one of those placed that makes you want to go back again and again, to try every single dish on the menu! Pro tip: get the "Minestrone": it's a thick vegetable soup with pasta and pesto sauce that tastes exactly like childhood memories of genuine comfort food. You'll thank me later! Highly recommended!"

"Decent Peruvian restaurant nearby the bus station. Food is good and reasonably priced, rocoto relleno with potato gratin is great. Chocolate is very chocolaty"

Just when you thought Gastón Acurio couldn't possibly do anything more for his country's gastronomy, he opened this nostalgic homenaje to Peru's home cooking of yesteryear. In a corner tavern filled with dark wood and old photos, he polls his customers on their favorite dishes from their childhoods, and then makes them new. Oven-baked chicken with papa a la huancaína, juicy meatballs like grandma used to make: it's all here.
