Overhyped Good Taste restaurant in Baguio? Just don't expect too much. Good for people na on a budget since madami din serving ng food. However,if you are looking for a food na taste like special or more than the common taste ng food, this is not for you. Worth it bang pilahan? for me,NO. Still good food tho and you can still try and make your own verdict about their food, for experience as well. ...

Reviews Summary

The Original Good Taste Cafe & Restaurant is celebrated for its incredibly generous portions and affordable prices, making it a favorite for value-seekers. While many praise dishes like the Pancit Guisado and Lechon Kawali, some reviews mention that the flavors can be ordinary and the service lacking attentiveness. The ambiance is described as basic, reflecting its no-frills approach to dining, but its 24/7 operation makes it a convenient go-to spot.

"We went here for a dinner and raining during the night of July. We ordered their famous chicken along with some tofu. We didn’t expect that the chicken would have a big serving. The taste of the chicken is like the chicken spicy of intramuros walls. It is savory but not that spicy. The breading is thick which was filled with sauce and so very good to partner with rice. The cheesecake we ordered as dessert was not that distinct. They can improve the cakes. At the end we decided to take out our chicken and paid extra 25 pesos for a quality microwaveable container."

duchess anastacio

"There’s no doubt they serve generous amount of food and one order could already fill 2 tummies. The place is a bit old it’s near / just across the Dangwa terminal. The price is also affordable. We couldn’t try their pastries anymore as we were already full."

Jimin-Lei Park

"We headed straight here after arriving from the terminal and got to the place around 2 PM. We were informed by the waitress that orders typically take about 45 minutes to an hour—and that held true. We were extremely hungry and had to wait quite a while, so when the food finally arrived, we devoured it right away.

The building looks quite old and a bit run-down, but it’s clearly a busy spot with a steady flow of people coming in and out. Despite the crowd, the staff weren’t very welcoming or attentive. It took some effort to get assistance, and unless you called them over or waved for attention, they seemed to overlook you.

As for the food, it wasn’t anything special in terms of flavor. The portions were decent, but considering the taste, it felt a bit overpriced. For the amount we paid, we expected better quality.

Overall, it was an okay experience, mostly because we were starving. If you plan to visit, don’t come on an empty stomach and don’t expect outstanding service. It’s a popular spot, but the food and hospitality didn’t quite live up to the hype."

Baguio City for Senior Citizens

What is amazing with Baguio City is that it has fresh and cheap vegetables. So, almost any restaurant in Baguio City has stir-fried vegetables and other healthier options, like fish. From Good Taste, Chia’s restaurant (which is like a more hygienic version of a carinderia in Manila – their grilled tuna is good!), Oh My Gulay (it just that it is located on the 5th floor of a building without an elevator; just imagine my parents when they were going up); and La Parilla — they all have affordable senior citizen-friendly meals.

Hitting the Hiking Trails in Baguio

No blog post of our trip to Baguio would be complete without a nod to our many trips to Good Taste. This multi-floor (I think six?) eating establishment appeared to cater to large families and was nothing fancy. Much of the menu was devoted to family-style dishes that served four or more, but we also tried out some of the more reasonably sized combo meals (costing about $2-3 each).

Almost the same with Good Taste but the menu is exclusive Filipino dishes. They serve plenty of meat in their dishes, my favorite is their crispy sinigang, the pork is fried first then they top it off with sinigang soup and vegetables. Most of their dish are fried or at least partially fried then added with some soup or sauce, so a lot of the dishes taste similar.
