I finally tried the famous European-style restaurant, The Pig and Palm, this summer after repeated visits in Cebu. And I think I did so at the right time—the restaurant was almost destroyed by typhoon Odette early this year and is just getting back to its feet, with much renewed inspiration. For a restaurant known for being helmed by a Michelin-starred chef (Jason Atherton), The Pig and Palm is surprisingly casual and laidback—exactly the vibe I like while eating sophisticated food in a very classy setting (quite a contrast, yes).

My goal is to focus on Filipino flavors in Cebu City, but I have to make an exception for The Pig & Palm, which is owned by Michelin-starred British chef Jason Atherton and Ira Atherton.
