What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Madge Cafe is praised for its authentic, traditionally brewed Ilonggo coffee and cozy, rustic ambiance that feels like home. While the coffee is a highlight, some diners note that innovative drinks can be too sweet, and service can sometimes be inconsistent or slow during peak hours. However, many appreciate the comforting food and the unique cultural experience it offers.
"While the food isn’t particularly groundbreaking, it evokes the comforting familiarity of home-cooked meals. The classic coffee is prepared and served in the traditional style, adding to the nostalgic charm. The native chicken adobo was flavorful, and the house-made ginger ale was a standout—refreshing and exceptionally well-balanced."

"It was great to see them preparing coffee the traditional way, it was definitely a refreshing experience. The staff were polite and attentive, which added to the overall charm of the place. While waiting, I enjoyed reading the inspiring quotes posted on the wall and taking in their unique decor.
Since it was my first time, I asked for their best seller and that’s what I ordered. Maybe that’s one of the reasons they’ve become well-known and lasted this long: their coffee has a unique taste that seems like it’s made from a recipe only they have. There was a distinct flavor I couldn’t quite identify.
To be honest, it wasn’t exactly my kind of coffee, based on my personal taste. But I still finished it, and I appreciate the experience. On my next visit to Iloilo, I’m definitely going to try another blend from their menu to compare."

"madge has pretty good coffee and i think people go for the novelty of the place apart from being a local brew with its rustic interiors. if we’re just talking about the brew, it’s good but they’re more innovative drinks need working on like salted caramel, etc. as it tends to be too sweet and you kind of lose the coffee in it overall.
it gets pretty packed, so service was overall an alright. you’d need to time when you request orders. you can also order trappist products and they’re supplied by calea cakes if you’re feeling up to it. what i really liked are their coffee residue paintings they showcase that makes them really stand out for me, because not a lot of coffee shops really have that concept of showcasing these in their shops or even making use of coffee waste for art so it’s a very nice touch to the shop."
