Itoys Coffee Haus

Having been around for over a decade now, Itoy’s is a Puerto classic. It was the city’s first Starbucks-esque coffee shop where high schoolers would come by and spend too much of their allowance on a sweet, whipped-cream-garnished ‘frappe’. They serve good coffee and house many tables, indoors and outdoors, to accommodate a lot of customers.

ITOY’S COFFEE HAUS – here’s our favorite vintage-themed place for cozy ambiance and good coffee in downtown Puerto Princesa. It’s most-liked because of that pleasant kinda neighborhood environment where you’ll feel welcome to have lots and lots of conversation with your friends and family (or simply eavesdrop, hahaha!) while you’re all having your favorite blends. Try the place and get acquainted with coffee like Kapeng Halo ni Eving, Butchie’s Special kahlua frappe, Charlie Brown white frappucino named after Mayor Lucilo Bayron.

We found ourselves at Itoy's Coffee Shop one morning while waiting for Balinsasayaw Restaurant located just right in front of it to open. Little did we know, Itoy's Coffee Haus is one of the famous coffee shops in Puerto Princesa. We just had our breakfast at the hotel and was gearing our self up for early lunch at the next restaurant.

The night wasn’t over since Rolly and Gigi Padilla treated us to drinks at Itoy’s Coffee just across the street. It was our last night and I was taking the Cebu Pacific flight back to Manila the next day. Although Rolly and Gigi were still staying another day for a Dos Palmas tour which completes any Puerto Princesa holiday.

It’s the perfect refuge in the busy Rizal Street in the city, with its vast array of coffee drinks. We stayed at the garden at the back of the establishment, lucky for us that there were no smokers at the time we were there. Try their Kapeng Halo ni Itoy (black forest frappuccino) and Kape ni Itoy (cappuccino).

For anyone looking for decent WiFi and espresso drinks, I think iToys would be hard to beat. The small dining room is set with tables perfect for laptops and the patio, shaded by large trees, is a gracious spot to while away a few hours. Their mango smoothies are reputed to be best in the area.

Itoy’s is said to be the first legit coffee shop in PP, which also offers a lot of food choices on their menu. I tried the Sizzling Bulalo, which is said to be the house specialty; and it did not disappoint. Tender beef, marrow and a hefty creamy sauce to complete the set.

This café is popular for being Puerto Princesa’s first coffee shop. It offers hot and cold brews, fruit shakes, pastries, and a wide variety of dishes, including options for vegetarians. It has an air-conditioned indoor area and an outdoor al fresco at the back.

This is a good place to have your early breakfast and coffee as opens at 6 AM. The best thing going for Itoy's is its pleasant cafe ambiance. They also have tables in the outside garden.
