Reviews Summary

Kinabuchs Grill and Bar is a popular Puerto Princesa destination praised for its authentic Filipino cuisine and cozy ambiance. Diners rave about signature dishes like the Halo-Halo and exotic offerings like crocodile sisig. However, some guests have noted inconsistencies in service, with occasional long waits and inattentive staff.

"I love this restaurant and I have dined here most nights whilst staying in Puerto Princesa. Every different meal has been delicious. The lovely staff have accommodated my gluten free diet and passed the request to the chefs. My favourite dish is the goat’s meat stew. Thank you Kinabuchs!"

Merinda Hewat-Cameron

"The Crispy Pata was great. The menu claimed it was not greasy, and they were absolutely correct.

The chop suey was very light and the vegetables seemed very fresh. A nice balance of flavor. The best Chop Suey my partner has had.

The garlic rice was "nice and garlicky".

The Halo-Halo was the best that we've ever had (coming from a Filipina who has had halo-halo since she was a kid). Seriously try this!"

Michael Jones

"Cozy affordable place for tourist in Puerto Princesa. The place is huge and they have 3 bar counters in total to make the service fast and convenient for their customers. They offer a wide variety of local cuisines and alcohol selections. The price is reasonable and worth it. A prime location within the city. They have a lot of staff to make it easier for the customers to order, guards for protection and sometimes police officers within the vicinity. Nice place to visit and chill in Puerto."

The halo-halo from Kinabuchs Grill was quite good but I feel like you could get the same standard from any other dessert shop. Don’t make the same mistake as us and saved all the halo-halo eating at this restaurant because it was known for it and ended up missing out on all the other opportunities of eating it whenever we spotted one. Halo-halo is a vibrant and refreshing Filipino dessert that offers a delightful blend of sweet fruits, beans, jellies, finely crushed ice and creamy toppings.

Head over to the über-laid back Kinabuch’s Grill & Bar and order their best-selling crocodile sisig and tamilok (a type of mollusc living inside mangrove trees). Meanwhile, Palaweño Brewery offers craft beer infused with homegrown ingredients like Palawan mangoes, tangguli (local palm candy), and wild Palawan honey. Aside from being the only craft beer place in Palawan, it’s also the first female-run craft brewery in the Philippines!

We were lucky that night since we got a table immediately upon arrival since they require reservations due to the number of people eating at the restaurant. We ordered sinigang na ulo ng isda, grilled blue marlin, bicol express and sizzling mixed misono and a set of bagoong and garlic rice.

8 Local Delicacies to Try When Visiting Puerto Princesa, Palawan

If you’re feeling really adventurous and want to try something truly unique (and maybe a little disturbing) during your visit to Palawan, then you must try the famous tamilok at Kinabuchs Grill & Bar. Tamilok is a type of mollusk that is harvested from the mangrove trees in Palawan. It looks like a long, slimy worm, but is actually a type of shell-less saltwater clam, sometimes called woodworm or shipworm.
