What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Cyrano de Bergerac offers a romantic and atmospheric dining experience in a historic cellar setting. Many praise the exceptional service and the exquisite wine pairings, with the Beef Wellington frequently highlighted as a standout dish. However, some diners feel the food, while well-presented, can lack robust flavor or fails to meet expectations for the price point, particularly when sampled during special event weeks.
"A very nice meal here if you're willing to spend that wee bit extra. We had the wild boar and duck for our main course and both were delicious!"
Anthony Gray
"We booked to try the restaurant as part of the restaurant week festival in which they were participating.
The interior and atmosphere was very picturesque and impressed us. It's a beautiful space.
Service was attentive and polite.
Unfortunately the whole experience was let down by the meal itself. Simply
Incredibly bad. I am not sure wether this is due to them not considering their participation in the festival as important or simply it being a bad day, but the food was just bad. Too much pomposity and delicate plating and no substance and flavour. Even basic seasoning was off.
We had both the offered menus.
The starters were nice with the Jerusalem artichoke soup standing out. The beetroot and goat cheese tart was not the nicest but acceptable.
The main courses were both disappointing. The guinea fowl was unsalted and very dry and the arancini was bland. The fish had not been cooked well as it's skin was soggy and wet and at the same time the flesh was overcooked and dry, the accompanying polenta was not properly seasoned and the decorations on the plate unnecessarily with the drops of gellified coconut milk just being plain weird. As for the desserts they were ok but nothing special. Overall and extremely underwhelming experience. The food did not live up to the restaurant's reputation.
I don't know if this is the case just for the restaurant week set menu but regardless it was a disappointing experience.
All looks and no substance."

"Went here for a company dinner and would say that it's good but nothing spectacular.
In terms of taste, it was pretty bland, with no impressive flavor or uniqueness. Had the onion soup as a starter to begin with, the beef wellington and ending with the apple pie.
And the best would be the dessert even if I don't personally like apple pies. But this one had a nice flavor, and the apples weren't mussy. Beef wellington i expected more from since it didn't have much in flavors going on and also was a bit cold. Especially the potatoes in the dish.
Service, on the other hand, was very formal, and everything was served in that manner. Both ask about wine for each dish and filling up the water glass when needed.
Local was also very nicely decorated and had a special atmosphere. The restaurant is also located centrally in Krakow."
