MilkBar Tomasza ul.

Reviews Summary

Milkbar Tomasza is praised for its authentic, affordable Polish cuisine and excellent value, particularly its Full Irish Breakfast. Diners love the cozy, communal atmosphere and friendly staff, though the small size often leads to queues. While food quality and portion sizes are consistently highlighted, some note the self-service model and potential wait times.

"Among the beautiful streets of Old
Town in Kraków (I learned that it’s pronounced like “CROCK-oof”) there’s so much to see at every turn. There are also many eateries, though many are more tourist-focused. Then there’s Milkbar Tomasza. If you want authenticity, this is the place. If you want plentiful food at great prices, this is the place. The chef hails from Dublin, so if you want a true Full Irish Breakfast…yep, this is the place. Seating is limited and the place fills up fast. I can see why. Wonderful homey staff, and very easy to make new friends and meet fellow travelers here. Very worth a stop!"

"There was a queue at the entrance so we had to wait 10-15 minutes to get in.

There was also a queue to place the order to the cashier, had to wait about 10 minutes.

The staffs were very friendly. Their homemade lemonade were excellent, i just wish the size of the drink was a bit bigger. It was super refreshing.

Then the food arrived, it was very tasty. Tried the dumplings and daily specials (Roasted Chicken leg). Portion size was good enough for one person, foods were very tasty, very flavourful.

Went for the lunch at 2 pm, the place was full of people and it felt quite warm inside the restaurant. I think going in the afternoon or evening would feel much more comfortable.

Worth waiting!"

"Lovely small place with great service good prices and fantastic food. We had to wait roughly 10-15min to be seated. Food was served within reasonable time. Overall highly recommend. Well we went the second time... Again the food was absolutely worth the wait!!!"

Breakfast and Brunch Spots in Krakow

Tomasza is not really the classic type of milk bar, considering that it was opened a bit less than 10 years ago, albeit it’s laid out in a similar way, in that it’s more of a self-service place. Breakfast is more English type than American, and most of the dishes focus on eggs, with some interesting choices like scrambled eggs with smoked salmon or with black pudding (banned in the US!). They do have other things like pancakes, and they also offer traditional Polish main courses, such as pork chops or pierogi.

4 Days in Krakow, Poland

We were famished by the end of the tour so we made our way (as quickly as we could) to the highly rated Milkbar Tomasza. These quintessential Milk Bars (bar mleczny) are government subsidised cafeterias which saw their heyday in socialist postwar Poland. They typically offer traditional Polish dishes at unbelievably low prices – a great way to soak up the local culture while enjoying a delicious meal.

Lunch in Krakow - 13 Amazing Spots [Updated for 2025]

A slightly puffed up version of the traditional Polish milk bar (a sort of rough-around-the-edges food joint that was popular in the Communist era), this casual little eatery on the edge Tomasza Street cooks up a smorgasbord of national favorites. Pierogi predictably reigns supreme. However, there’s also a dash of more creative additions – think veggie chilli and tortilla wraps.
