There are only a handful of truly breakfast dedicated places in Krakow and Ranny Ptasek (AKA Early Bird) probably wins the award for sweetness, colour and humour. Although it’s definitely a place for all genders to feel at home; the ‘female’, ‘moon’ or ‘nurturing’ power here is off the chart. It was dreamed up by the beautiful Kasia and her daughter (who share in a dope gene pool) as a place to celebrate breakfast (their favourite meal, who can blame them) all day, while simultaneously creating a peaceful wave of life with great working conditions for women; closing every day at 4 so that they can keep balance in their lives.

If you are looking for some great breakfast food near the city center, look no further than Ranny Ptaszek, where they serve up what locals consider some of the best breakfast in all of Krakow. Their massive helpings of Hungarian sausage and shakshuka, a dish made with poached eggs, vegetables, and tomato sauce, make for a phenomenal start to any day. As a bonus, this Krakow breakfast spot is less than a block away from the stunning St. Katherine’s Church and several other attractions.

The name, Ranny Ptaszek, literally translates into early bird – and this neighbourhood eatery closes early at 4pm and serves a breakfast menu all day long. From homemade muesli and apple crumpets with homemade jam to a hearty breakfast of roasted Hungarian sausage, fried egg, chickpeas in tomatoes, warm pitta bread, classic hummus and a sriracha mayo sauce, the one page menu is simple but promises to serve honest and soulful food.

I was hesitant to put this on our list- as it’s my absolute favorite place to go for a late breakfast and it’s so small that having you know about it could mean I won’t have a seat anymore. But it deserved a spot, so here it is. Ranny Ptaszek means Early Bird, or technically Wounded Bird– but there won’t be any birds in your meal because it is strictly Vegetarian/Vegan (we actually didn’t even notice this our first few visits).

Ranny Ptaszek działa od 2017 roku i niezmiennie zachwyca swoją popisową szakszuką, jabłkami szlafroczkach i robioną na koszernej picie kanapką sabih z jajkiem, smażonym bakłażanem i ambą. Ciekawostka: Autorki menu, Kasia i Zosia Pilitowskie (Mama z Córką) wydały dwie książki kulinarne – “Jajko” oraz “Ziemniak”.

Just across the street stood Ranny Ptaszek, an all-day breakfast eatery run by Kasia and her partner Bartłomiej Suder where we lunched the following day. With slow jazz drifting along and our glasses filled with Polish wines, we were ready to cook with Kasia. The menu (shown below) showcased some seasonal and vegetarian Polish dishes, breaking the myth that Polish food was all meat!.

Ranny Ptaszek, an all-day-long vegan and vegetarian breakfast and brunch bar, located in the Jewish Quarter, is by far one of the coolest restaurants in Krakow. It’s one of those little gems every neighbourhood should have. It has interior decorations that combine retro colours and contemporary furnishings, Ranny Ptaszek exudes charm, sophistication and friendliness.

Ranny Ptaszek is the quintessential (and quintessentially pink) brunch and breakfast spot in Krakow. Situated on a cozy corner in Kazimierz, this restaurant’s vegetarian-centered menu is great for herbivores and carnivores (vegans might struggle). You cannot go wrong with the shakshuka and homemade hummus.

Ranny ptaszek literally means early bird, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that this is a perfect option for breakfast. In fact, they only do a breakfast/brunch menu, and they don’t stay open past 4 pm. It’s a small and cute spot that only has a couple of seats around the breakfast bar and small tables.

From the moment I walked into Ranny Ptaszek, I knew I was in for a treat. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon filled the air, instantly awakening my senses. This place truly lives up to its reputation as serving the best breakfast in Krakow.

One of the best parts of this place is that it has both indoor and outdoor dining. This means that when the weather is good, you can enjoy the sun and food while sitting outside. This restaurant is 100 percent vegan which is what I love about it.

I’m not vegetarian, but I don’t mind going to a vegetarian only restaurant like Ranny Ptaszek when it comes to brunch. This cozy and inviting spot is great for brunch with friends. Their menu is simple, but every dish is so photogenic.

Think avocado toast with a twist, shakshuka, and good coffee. Great for solo travellers or anyone who likes a slower start to the day.
