Just a five-minute walk from the Old Town Square, Stragan Kawiarnia is primarily just a coffee shop (offering all sorts of weird and wonderful filter coffees you’ve never heard of before; “Chemex” brew anyone?), but they do serve cakes and a small selection of breakfasts as well. The decor is contemporary and – not surprisingly – coffee-themed, and the atmosphere is lovely and relaxed. It’s the kind of place you could come to get some work done (in fact the lady next to us looked like she was working on a PhD Maths paper!) and you wouldn’t feel time-pressured by the staff.

It all started with a coffee spot in one of Poznan’s shopping malls in 2011. Today, Stragan’s stand-alone cafe is a respected, modern enterprise that features an interior and equipment that could easily compete with the best cafes in big European cities. The working space is a display for a beautiful Victoria Arduino Black Eagle coffee machine, Mahlkönig and Nuova Simonelli grinders as well as a long brew bar where you can observe skilled baristas at their craft while they brew you a drip or an AeroPress coffee.

Also I have to give a shoutout to Edyta and Nico from Puramaro where besides proper Italian coffee, you can try their excellent Panini’s, delicious pastries, fab tiramisu as well as their artisanal gelato.

Stragan Kawiarnia has been one of the best places for speciality coffee in Poland since opening in 2013. Alongside a team of skilled baristas who compete yearly in the Polish Barista Championships, the coffee beans are top notch. Choose from a creamy flat white or refreshing cold brew, with an entire shelf full of different beans to buy to take home.

Poznan has a diverse coffee and cafe scene dotted all over the city. While there is no shortage of great coffee places, Stragan Kawiarnia strikes the most with its delicious specialty coffee. After all, they were pioneers in Poznan’s specialty coffee business.

Specialty coffees, delicious cheesecakes, breakfasts and drinks still find many customers, which makes Stagan a noisy and vibrant place. Located a few steps from Święty Marcin Street, it is a perfect stop on your way to work or while exploring the city.

It was a brilliant recommendation from a friend to check out this cafe. One visit, amazing coffee… and Stragan Kawiarnia stole my heart. There are only a couple of tables available so sometimes at busy times you need to get lucky to secure a seat.
