Reviews Summary

U Fukiera is celebrated for its enchanting, historic ambiance and its dedication to refined Polish cuisine, with many guests raving about dishes like the duck and pierogi. While the service is often highlighted as exceptional, some diners have noted inconsistencies in attentiveness and occasional issues with food preparation, particularly with steaks and overcooked meats. Despite some minor criticisms, the restaurant remains a highly recommended destination for a memorable dining experience in Warsaw.

"I’m on a personal mission, to treat myself the way I wish to be treated. I was recommended this restaurant as a really special experience and well it lived up to the hype.

Valentin, the waiter serving our section was incredible! He knew everything about the wines, was making great suggestions on food - for sure, he knows his stuff, not only that but I overheard him telling the table behind me about the history of the building too! You can tell that he is someone who cares about the customer experience because he really does uphold that high quality.

The food - well, I was recommended the half duck and it didn’t disappoint. Tender on the inside, crispy on the outside, paired with the baked apple, with beetroot and kopytka on the side, absolutely delicious. I like duck, but this was by far the best duck I’ve ever eaten.

The building itself is incredible, and the decor - I love it! Restaurants now seem to prefer the clinical minimalist look, I would eat at Fukiera every week - I love its eccentric style, it’s over the top, it’s making a statement. It’s truly a special place, with special people serving special food! I will 100% without a doubt, return some day."

"A wonderful surprise in the heart of Warsaw! Despite its popularity, U Fukiera was not overcrowded, which made for a calm and enjoyable dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious – generous portions with authentic, traditional Polish flavors. At the same time, the presentation was creative and refined, like the elegant glass used for the tartar. A perfect blend of tradition and high cuisine. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience Polish food at its best!"

"The restaurant was really cute. I loved the decorations. The servers were very nice but I will say not very attentive, we waited a very long time after sitting to be see our servers, and the restaurant wasn't busy, and other tables were being seen. The food was good though. I ordered the beef tenderloin rare, my friend ordered the same medium well, and we both received medium. The dumplings were more like what I'm familiar with as gnocchi, I think i was anticipating more like pierogies. Despite the steak being over cooked it tasted good and the presentation was really nice. My friends ordered the duck and the lamb which were both very delicious. I would recommend ordering the duck. It was a huge portion. And very good.
We also saw a birthday and engagement, that was so sweet and special and our table felt so nice to witness their celebrations.
I would recommend coming here as long as you aren't in a hurry or fussy about waiting. The atmosphere is wonderful and so cute and cozy! Id recommend the house red wine, and getting the duck."

The 10 Best Restaurants In Old Town, Warsaw

U Fukiera, another restaurant owned by Magdalena Gessler, is located in the Old Town’s market place, in a tenement house that was used for wine production in the 16th century. Today’s restaurant successfully draws on the rich history of its surroundings, and has hosted a number of famous personalities, such as the queens of Denmark and Spain, Claudia Schiffer, Roman Polanski and Naomi Campbell. The tasty menu includes cold and warm starters, salads, and main courses of Polish fish, crab, trout, salmon, herring, along with a variety of meats.

Restaurants in Warsaw

This long-established wine bar on the Old Town Square has been turned into a curious—though ultimately inviting—network of elaborately decorated dining rooms. There's a talking parrot in a cage here, and candles adorn all available shelf space (sometimes set dangerously close to diners' elbows). The decor is, admittedly, lovely; the food is okay but overpriced "Light Old Polish." Expect to find such standbys as oven-roasted carp, sautéed veal liver, and crabmeat crepes.
