Reviews Summary

O Benfiquista is celebrated for its exceptional traditional Portuguese cuisine and the incredibly friendly, attentive service, particularly from the owner Tony. The vibrant Benfica-themed atmosphere creates a unique and lively dining experience. While portions are generous and prices are fair, some may find the strong team-specific decor overwhelming if not a fan.

"One of the best places I have ever been in Portugal! Unfortunately I was driving and I couldn’t try the beer!
The food was amazing and Tonim is the best waiter ever! Really funny and nice!
The food was good and the price is fair!
I highly recommend!"

Natty Figueiredo

"We visited the restaurant O Benfiquista and had a wonderful experience!
We ordered the house-style codfish and the white bean tripe — the latter isn’t on the menu, it’s only served on weekends, and it’s absolutely delicious! The food is traditional Portuguese, made with great care and rich flavor.

The atmosphere is warm, traditional, and lively — just as you’d expect from an authentic Portuguese restaurant. A highlight is the Imperial à Benfica beer, served in a huge tulip glass with a bold taste — perfect to pair with the dishes.

The entire staff is very friendly and attentive, with special mention to Nuno and his father, the owners and passionate Benfica fans, who bring a unique touch to the experience. They create such a welcoming vibe that you feel like you’ve been transported straight to a typical restaurant in Lisbon or Porto.

One amazing detail: you pay for your dish and can have seconds — that’s right! But fair warning: it’s hard to go for a second round, because the portions are generous.

We absolutely loved the place and will definitely return! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a true Portuguese experience in the heart of the city."

"In Fátima, Portugal, Benfiquista isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a celebration wrapped in great food and lively spirit. Our lunch items were fresh, flavorful, and satisfying, with menu options that are very reasonably priced and generous in portion (I even brought some home!). But it’s the atmosphere that makes it unforgettable—the owner and waiters sing, clap, and draw everyone into the fun, filling the room with laughter and energy. Even if you’re not a Benfica fan, you’ll be swept up in the spirit (just be ready for a sea of red décor and team pride!) and feel like part of the family from the moment you sit down. I’ll be back. Thank you"

Our Lady of Fatima, Portugal – Pilgrim Stays

A very popular hangout is the Benfiquista restaurant which has been named after a famous sports club and caters mostly to locals. It has menus in different languages and the prices are very reasonable. You can try the house speciality of pork over potatoes balanced with olives and pickled carrot and cabbage.
