Reviews Summary

As Vides Restaurant is celebrated for its authentic Madeiran cuisine, particularly its flavorful beef skewers and traditional Bolo do Caco. Diners praise the rustic ambiance and friendly service, which contribute to a genuine local experience. However, some reviews mention issues with overly salty dishes or greasy sides, and the lack of elevator access is a recurring point for those with mobility concerns.

"Very good food and service. Price is also good. Recommend!"

Raquel Miranda

"Unfortunately our experience was not a good one despite the high number of reviews.
Notice: The restaurant is on the second floor without an elevator so it is not suitable for elderly people or people with disabilities.
I keep the review short. The garlic bread was OK! Both the meat skewer and chicken skewer were "very" salty (we could only eat them with the wine)! The fried corn cubes were super greasy and we could only eat a few cubes! The salad was not fresh and was soaked in olive oil and balsamico (would be nice if they were served separately so we could decide how much to add). The only good thing was the fries with oregano. The waiter was polite and did his best communicating in English. I will not recommend this restaurant."

Farhad Varzandeh

"Best food I had in Madeira. Highly recommend this place. Bolo do Caco was great, well seasoned, fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. We also had the Espetadas em pau de Louro with some fries and everything was on point. Will definitely be coming back here as soon as possible"

Time Out

The best restaurants for typical Madeira skewers

The espetada (kebab) seasoning is hand crushed with the help of a rock, then rubbed onto each piece of meat before it is skewered (and for €20.80, you can ask for a laurel wood skewer), and then gently cooked on an acacia wood grill. It arrives promptly, accompanied with chips, garlic and herbs and the popular Madeiran fried corn. This is a large restaurant with lots of tables.
