Reviews Summary
Dona Amelia Restaurant is celebrated for its exceptional service and high-quality traditional French cuisine, with many calling it the best meal in Funchal. Diners rave about unique dishes like linguine with prawns and generous portions. However, some guests found the food lacked flavor and the portions to be small for the price, leading to disappointment.
"An amazing dinner experience from start to finish - you must eat here if you’re in Funchal.
We had an early weekday dinner and were surprised by how nice it was. It gives off french restaurant vibes with white table cloths and very polite staff. The waiters were very friendly and offered helpful recommendations.
We had seafood mains which I’ve attached pictures of, and the food was incredible. The dessert was delightful, and they also have a respectable dessert wine offering.
When we were done they brought out complimentary pastries which is a very nice touch too.
I have literally no negative comments about the place, it was sublime. I would give six stars if I could."

"What could I say! After so many times in Funchal we finally made it here. Must say we re sad not having eaten here before. If you like a traditional french cuisine but also some delicious other dishes then go here!!! The foie gras is very generous, the linguine with prawns were made with a traditional bisque sauche (!) like you won‘t get it anywhere on the island. Let it accompany with a recommended wine. You will love it. As a main course we got the chateauxbriand. Go and get it. And get a nice recommendation of a red wine too!!
As a desert they serve you the crêpe suzette or a nice apple pie or just some other sweets. You will love it. Don‘t forget to book a table in advance."

"The place is beautiful and staff friendly. Sadly the food was a big let down, everything lacked flavour, and portions were really small. Very overpriced for basic dishes. Disappointed as everything we had in Madeira so far had been really delicious."
