Reviews Summary
Zuma Doha is widely praised for its exceptional Japanese cuisine, vibrant atmosphere, and stunning sea views from its Al Maha Island location. Diners frequently highlight the fresh sushi, well-balanced flavors, and attentive service. However, some find the portions small for the price, and a few reviews mention inconsistent experiences or potential issues with table spacing.
"Had a great dining experience at Zuma Doha yesterday for lunch. The service was excellent everyone was friendly and welcoming, which made for a pleasant atmosphere. The food was delicious, with well-balanced flavors in every dish. The grilled wagyu was tender and perfectly cooked, the lettuce salad was fresh and light, and the raw fish was very fresh.
For dessert, the sweet potato cake was really good. The vanilla tea was a nice, comforting way to end the meal. Overall, a great experience, and I’d definitely go back!"

"So, I finally got around to trying Zuma at Al Maha Island after hearing a lot of hype. It’s one of those places that seems to promise a high-end dining experience with a lively atmosphere. Unfortunately, for me, the whole experience was just… okay.
Let’s start with the sushi — it was fine. Not bad, but definitely not great either. For a restaurant with Zuma’s reputation and price point, I expected something a bit more memorable. The flavors were kind of flat, and nothing really stood out. It didn’t feel like a place that was putting much creativity or freshness into what they were serving that day.
The service was also just okay. The staff weren’t rude, but they weren’t particularly friendly or attentive either. We had to wait longer than expected to get someone’s attention a few times, and it felt like we were just another table they had to get through. Not the kind of vibe you want when you're out for a nice dinner.
Now, the space itself is modern and stylish, which I appreciated — but the tables are super close together. Like, awkwardly close. If you're planning on having a relaxed conversation or catching up with someone, forget it. You can hear every word from the tables around you, and they can hear you too. It felt more like a crowded lounge than a restaurant.
One weird thing I didn’t expect: they don’t allow hats. I showed up wearing a clean, casual cap and was politely asked to take it off. I get it if that’s their policy, but it felt a bit unnecessary given the overall casual feel of the place — especially considering how trendy and relaxed the crowd looked.
On the plus side, the manager was actually decent. He came by to check in and was polite and professional. He seemed open to feedback, which I appreciated. That definitely helped soften the overall impression.
All in all, Zuma at Al Maha Island was a decent night out, but nothing that left me excited to return. With so many great dining options around, I’d probably try somewhere else next time."

Brunch Review: ZUMA Doha has Hype and Celebrities but Does it Deliver A Great Brunch?
You can book one of two spaces for brunch – the outside terrace or the main dining room. The terrace is lovely and works in theory, but the Doha end of winter winds highlights it’s quite exposed and some seats can suffer as the sun dips. But, I’m there for the food.
