This is especially true if you stop by for breakfast, when you can choose from loads of healthy juices including a ‘liver cleanse’ one, no doubt designed for many backpackers and stag parties that pass through Romania’s capital. They also serve coconut coffee that tastes just as good as the most amazing coconut coffee I had in Croatia, so it was an easy winner for me.

The Lipscani area is a popular place for Bucharest’s citizens to relive the city’s Belle Époque zenith. If there’s a café that looks like our grandparents’ photos of the city’s golden age, it’s the Van Gogh. Located between King Carol’s former Stock Exchange Palace, and the Pinacoteca Art Palace, and directly across from the National Bank Palace, this new yet old café couldn’t dream of a better location.

I immediately loved the décor in this café located in the heart of Old Town with its bright colors and umbrellas hanging upside down. You can enjoy this café morning, day or night as they serve cocktails in the evenings. I wasn’t impressed with the coffee as it was a bit strong and bitter, but I would recommend as a great atmosphere for meeting friends for a drink.

Pentru toți iubitorii de artă, Grand Cafe Van Gogh is the place!. Aflat în Bucureștiul vechi, lângă Piața Unirii, localul își întâmpină oaspeții cu un decor care stârnește admirație și curiozitate. On my second day, I went to the Grand Café on the off-chance they might have space. They actually did have plenty of space outside, which felt like it defeated the purpose, but I was allowed to go in for as long as I wanted to take photos. The Van Gogh café has paintings all over the walls across several rooms, but the real attraction is the staircase.

This is one of the places that we found on TikTok when we were getting ideas. Vincent Van Gogh actually had no connection to Bucharest or Romania, this is simply just a little cafe dedicated to him and his art work. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to have breakfast, lunch or dinner, it’s a great place to go.

In decent weather (heat lamps and blankets in the fall) you can sit outside at night and enjoy the stars while you work. Located in Bucharest’s old town, soak in the coffee culture while pondering what it would be like to be the artist behind famous works like starry night!

Grand Café Van Gogh is one of many nice cafe-bars in the old town area of Bucharest. I ended up here because it is one of the venues of the area that is open early for breakfast, coffee or beer. The venue is splendid and nicely decorated with paintings by Vincent van Gogh.

This is definitely one of my favorite cafes in the Old Town. Not only for the inspiring decor (I adore Vincent van Gogh, what can I say), but for the choices on the menu as well.
