Salon 1905

This district is known as Savamala (from Savska mahala), an old area of Belgrade which, after it was freed from Turkish dominance, was inhabited by shopkeepers and merchants attracted here by the trading licences offered by Prince Miloš Obrenović to anyone who set up their trade in this district. Savamala – today decorated by famous graffiti artists from all over the world – was Belgrade’s first commercial centre largely thanks to Luka Ćelović, one of the directors of the Belgrade Cooperative, whose headquarters were situated in the building now occupied by Salon 1905.

Also, said three major candidates might be joined by Vanja Puskar with Iris, though that restaurant is closed at the moment. Still, Vanja could be a candidate with Iva, another member of the New Balkan Cuisine concept, at least as a recommendation.

Salon 1905 is situated in the historic Geozavod building, which is located in the center of Belgrade’s Old Town in the Savamala area. The restaurant’s name underlines the fact that the building was built in 1905, and yet still hints at its sister restaurant which we hopefully have all become very familiar with. On entering the building, you’re greeted by friendly staff, and you make your way up the grand marble stairs leading to the restaurant entrance.

Just a short walk from the banks of the Sava, double doors lead you up a carved stone staircase with teal carpeting. You're feeling regal even before you discover the extraordinary grandeur of the main room.
