We made plans to visit the Christmas Market the next day, before heading to Koliba Kamzík, where we found a cheerful mixture of locals and tourists in a space that reminded us of a country kitchen. Here we ordered potato dumplings, smoked meat, sauerkraut, bacon and onions. Dessert consisted of more potato, this time with walnuts, poppy seeds, sugar and butter.

This place is unique for its pleasant atmosphere of Slovak rurality, enriched by the sweet smell and tastes of traditional meals and specialities of home cuisine. This atmosphere is accompanied by helpful and hospitable staff in traditional costumes. Traditional Slovak meals such as bryndzové halušky or pirohy are a matter of course.

Pri vstupe do Koliby ťa privítajú kockované obrusy, drevené stoly a ambientné osvetlenie. Je to, skrátka, pomerne príjemné prostredie na stretnutie sa so známym, neurazí nikoho a pôsobí komorne. Nachádza sa na Zelenej ulici v Starom meste.

For our final meal in Koliba Kamzik, one of Bratislava’s white tablecloth restaurants, a delightful three-course meal costs the same as a pub burger back at home. We devour plates of venison pâté, roasted pork belly and duck pierogies.
