What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Špajza Restaurant is lauded for its exceptional cuisine, particularly its massive steaks and authentic Tuscan dishes. Diners consistently praise the passionate and friendly service, which significantly enhances the dining experience. While the food and service are generally outstanding, a few reviews mention occasional disconnected service or vegetables that were undercooked.
"The service was absolutely 10/10 the staff here are so committed to providing a beautiful dining experience they are so passionate and well fitted to the hospitality industry.
The food is also wonderful we had our last meal before we left here as we wanted to save the best for last and the team did not disappoint. We were very happy with all the food and the service, keep up the great work guys."

"Visited based on positive reviews though there were some pretty negative reviews criticising the service. We booked dinner on a Saturday night - there was only one table when we turned up at 8pm but it gradually filled up. The waiter recommended the beef cheek and it was a dream - wonderful flavours and oh so tender and melts on your mouth. The pate was also outstanding as was the dry aged beef (soaked in gin and thyme). The beef was served with a blueberry mustard and ketchup and we ordered a side of truffle sauce which was delicious!"
Anne
"It was an amazing night, from the beginning to the end, was just perfect. Gasper was the best waiter ever, he made us feel special and every recommendation was just accurate. We definitely will come back!

Lake Bled & Ljubljana, Slovenia
Restaurant Spajza was firmly ensconsed in the old town, down a pretty street. The restaurant is split off into several sections, each holding one or two tables, candlelight struggling to brighten the wooden-panelled rooms. The menu was, as far as I could tell, as traditional as one might get - deer tartare, young horse carpaccio and smoked goose breast with truffles all appealed on the starters.

Want to try something other than local cuisine at Chez Eric, Spajza or Krpan?. Visit Italian (Romeo, Julija) or oriental (DaBuda) restaurants. It is difficult to name any Russian restaurants in Ljubljana, but Mexican restaurants with a Mexican menu, such as Mexico 1867 on Medvedova cesta, 18, Cantina Mexicana on Knafljev prehod, 2, or Joe Peña's on Cankarjeva, 6, are successful.

This characterful restaurant – all candlelit nooks, red paint-job, crooked ceiling and old-timey furniture – delivers an eye-opening line in contemporary cooking, but with some decidedly rustic touches. There’s a robust and lengthy wine list. And the menu leans towards some less fashionable meats, including rabbit and, most notably, horse.
