My initial impressions about Jarryds were that it was a quaint yet bolshy upstart space, frequented by über-hipsters, serving vastly overpriced humdrum fare in a “trendy” space.

This casual “all-day brunchery” and bistro, set in the glass-ceilinged courtyard of a boutique hotel on Sea Point’s main drag, has an infectiously buzzy vibe (and a no-bookings policy). Service is slick and quick, the food is fab and there’s an eclectic menu that will feed any craving. Come for their famous classic pancake stack, the Turkish eggs, a breakfast burger, or one of the twists on eggs Benedict (a royale with salmon cream cheese roulade or one with buttermilk fried chicken).

Serving up food that almost looks too good to eat, this is where the young and hip head for brunch. Offering an extensive menu ranging from healthy smoothie bowls to fluffy omelettes and just a good ol’ bacon and egg roll, everything is executed with a lot of care here. The Strawberry Superfood smoothie bowl is any health lover’s dream (served with vanilla bean yoghurt, raw almonds, mixed berries and raw super-seed granola), and the Smoked Salmon Rosti Stack is an absolute winner.

I recommend sharing though because these pancakes are a lot for one person to eat!

The queue outside JARRYDS is usually pretty long, but that’s because it’s worth the wait. The breakfast menu has a comprehensive Benedicts section, with four incredible options. Expect a brioche bun or English muffin, served atop your choice of either salmon, thick-cut bacon, spinach or buttermilk fried chicken.

Personally, I think that Jarryd’s offers the best breakfast in Cape Town, and I’m not alone in this. In fact, it was evenfeatured as one of Cape Town’s best restaurants on Somebody Feed Phil!. The pancakes here have gone viral on TikTok and believe me, they’re just as tasty as they are pretty.

Jarryds is a great brunch spot in Sea Point, just a 10-minute walk from our Airbnb. This was our favorite place to eat breakfast while in Cape Town. The food portions are generous, the staff is so friendly, and frankly, the place was packed from opening to closing.

With two branches, JARRYDS is a great place for a late breakfast or brunch in Cape Town. Primarily, it is an espresso bar, a spot for real coffee lovers and connoisseurs + eatery. JARRYDS has a tasty breakfast options, including fresh pastries and sweet treats.

This super popular brunch spot has a small selection of vegan options ( e.g. overnight oats and smoothie bowls) but their savoury dishes can be modified to be vegan friendly. We enjoyed the avocado toast with mushrooms, beetroot balsamic puree and seeds.

I didn’t geto ut for proper breakfast, but two on my list were Jarryd’s for brunch (came highly recommended by friends) and Hemelhujs (for brunch, coffee, and breakfast cocktails).
