Reviews Summary
Alkimia offers an innovative take on Catalan cuisine, with many diners praising the creative tasting menus and exceptional wine pairings. The restaurant's chic, aquatic-themed interior is also a highlight. However, some guests have reported issues with inconsistent service, particularly regarding order accuracy and staff attentiveness, which can detract from the overall fine-dining experience.
"Amazing tasting menu and wine pairing. I would highly recommend the wine pairing unless you are opening some interesting bottles. They really did excel with their pairing. We experienced a great service. The atmosphere is laid back for such a fancy restaurant. Worth to take a sneak peak at their private dinning room, its beautiful."

"We had a reservation, but it didn’t seem properly confirmed. It might have been partly our fault, but since they said they could serve us, we went in.
After being seated, we waited 20–30 minutes without even getting menus, while guests who came in later were already enjoying wine and receiving theirs. If they didn’t have enough staff, it would’ve been better to just say so instead of letting us in.
Most staff were trying to be nice, but one of them never made eye contact and felt dismissive, which was unpleasant. Service training seems necessary.
The food was okay, though a few dishes were a bit fishy."

"I recently visited this 1-star restaurant and unfortunately experienced several service issues that detracted from the overall dining experience.
To start, our order was incomplete, with one of our dishes and the bread service forgotten. Additionally, the staff failed to return my bag to me when we finished our meal, requiring us to go back to the restaurant to retrieve it. This was an incredibly frustrating and disorganized experience.
While the food itself was fine, the lack of typical 1-star niceties like an amuse bouche or petit fours was noticeable. The serving staff also seemed disinterested in providing information about the menu items.
Overall, the service problems were the main issue here. I would encourage the restaurant to focus on improving order accuracy, attentiveness of staff, and ensuring a seamless experience for customers. With some refinements, this establishment could potentially provide a more enjoyable dining visit in the future"

Having started out as a baker’s apprentice at only 15, Vilà rose through the ranks of the city’s best restaurants until, in 2002, he opened Alkimia, with a Michelin star soon following in 2005. With a playful approach to traditional Spanish dishes, think staples such as lamb, almonds and pan con tomate jazzed up with dashes of vermouth and bergamot, Vilà’s food is classic and considered, a tendency reflected in the minimal, determinedly untrendy interiors: both Vilà and Alkimia are led by food, not fashion.
Restaurants in Catalonia with Michelin stars
BarcelonaFor 13 years Alkimia operated from C/Indústria, 79, and after a year in the works, Jordi Vilà and Sonia Profitós reopened their restaurant in the Fábrica Moritz. On Indústria it was a good spot for getting to know the basic concept of a modern Barcelona restaurant, but for the reopening, from the first floor where the Mortiz family once lived, Vilà made a surprising announcement of the great offerings they'll have in a minimal space. 'Six tables for 18 people.
