Reviews Summary

Diners rave about the exquisite traditional Extremaduran cuisine and attentive service, making it a standout dining experience. While most reviews highlight delicious, well-prepared dishes and a pleasant atmosphere, a few mention an off-putting service experience. However, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many recommending it as a must-visit.

"I have been living in Spain for about 3 years and I am starting to identify and appreciate high quality Spanish food and wine. My meal at this restaurant was, without question, one of the best I've had in Spain so far. Each of my dishes (enslada de perdiz, jabalí a las guindas and biscuit de higo) were creative, beautifully presented and delicious. The quality of the food was very well matched by good quality wine by the glass and excellent customer service. I gave the restaurant 4 out of 5 stars for atmosphere only because I went when it opened at 8:30pm, and for about 30mins I was the only customer there! It was full and very lively after about 9:30pm. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Cáceres."

Christopher Mason

"Just delicious. No ingles pero mucho fantastico comida y servicio. You will love it. Ordered the pepper steak and the fixed menu."

Eric “The Niz” Nisley

"Service was excellent. Food was very good too. Diverse menu. Try Tecula as dessert"

A Weekend in Cáceres, Spain, the Newest 'Game of Thrones' Filming Location

The lively tapas bars on and around the Plaza Mayor, such as Bouquet Tapería and La Minerva, never disappoint, but for a memorable sit-down feast, head to El Figón de Eustaquio, a stalwart restaurant specializing in local dishes like wild venison and wine-braised pig cheeks. Lighter—and more refined—fare can be found at Atrio, the two-Michelin-star restaurant by Toño Pérez that single-handedly put Cáceres on the culinary map with its artfully composed plates and planetarium-like bodega, an architectural stunner complete with a backlit Château d’Yquem wine cave.

Time for extra helpings: a foodie tour of Cáceres, Spain | Spain holidays

If ever I get a craving for proper old-fashioned extremeño eating – wild boar stew, suckling pig, pickled tench – you’ll find me in the whitewashed, vaulted dining room of El Figón de Estaquio, where the menú regional costs €26 and some of the black-waistcoated waiters seem to have been there since the place opened in 1947.

**El Figon de Eustaquio* is a long-standing restaurant in Plaza de San Juan and has been operating since 1947. Bring serious cash to all these places, because they are not cheap. They're worth it, though, and you'll want to keep buying things on the menu and pair them with good, local wine.
