"Authentic Andalusian tapas bar and grocery store. Delicious food at very reasonable prices. Staff is great and super funny (in Spanish) and very helpful. Wines available from the cask."

"Cool bar, great tapa of toro (young bull) and great chicharrón traditional which is like aged fried pork belly , great with a cold beer . In fact I walk there most nights just for those two dishes"
philip montgomerie
"So good went 3 times in a week. A mixture of hot dishes and chacino. Wine beer and sherry, all good quality, would recommend Barbadillo. Staff pleasant and efficient. Nice addiction to 80'd pop, not had Tapas before listening to Pet Shop Boys"

Doubling as a corner shop and a “restaurant”, Bar el Veedor does standard tapas (though the service is quick) and the chips are typically Spanish (ie, soggy), but the tortilla is good and the sherries from the wooden barrels piled at one end of the bar are great. The glory of Veedor, though, is the superlative jamón, which can be bought in vacuum-sealed packs to take away. The tapa of braised venison is a personal favourite (though it’s only available when in season).

The center is full of small tapas-bars (best: Veedor, Gotinga, Garbanzo Negro,...) For night life bars in the citycenter are recomended ( Nahoo, UMEC ) After 3am all people go to "la punta" as a center of going out and dancing!. For taking a coffee or having a short break I can recomend "plaza de la cadetral" and it's cafes. For the a quick meal you can go to "el refugio" en la calle benyumeda - there you find the best bocadillos of town.
Why the history-packed city of Cadiz is a fantastic alternative to Seville
The cosy wood panelling, marble-topped bar and flagstone floors of this popular joint, a combination of deli and bar since 1850, hark back to times gone by. Order a fresh pre-dinner fino sherry, a little jamon iberico to whet the appetite and perhaps a slab of tortilla too. The service is friendly, the conversation buzzing and the food delicious (sherry from £2; corner of Calle Veedor and Calle Vea Murguia)

Two very old men, who look like they were born at the same time as the bar was built, leads the show with a steady hand. While enjoying your ensaladilla or tuna from one of the many colorful cans, it’s easy to disapperar into a dream about another Cadiz that was once there. What this place must have seen of weather-beaten sailors and fine shipowners through the ages!
